[Discussion] Obstruction and blockage of the throat and pharynx are caused by stagnation in the Spleen and Lung, accumulation of wind-toxin, internal invasion of meridians and collaterals, and upward attack on the throat. The Foot-Taiyin (Spleen) meridian ascends through the diaphragm and flanks the pharynx; the larynx is the passage for Lung Qi. Therefore, when there is heat stagnation in the Spleen and Lung, obstruction of the throat occurs. After a cold damage disease, if residual toxins remain unexhausted and attack the throat upward, it also leads to obstruction and blockage.
