Commentary states: The Kidney and the Bladder are exteriorly-interiorly related, extending downward to connect with the Bao (uterus/lower jiao reproductive-urinary region), governing the unblocking and circulation of the water pathways. If the Kidney is deficient and cold pathogenic factors invade and lodge in the lower jiao, evil qi and righteous qi contend with each other, causing qi stagnation and fullness within the Bao, thereby obstructing the water pathways. Consequently, the clinical manifestation presents initially with chills, followed by difficult urination forming Lin syndrome (dysuria/pollakiuria), which is termed Cold Lin.
