Commentary states: When the human body is injured by overexertion affecting the Kidney Meridian, it leads to Kidney Deficiency and Heat in the Bladder. The Qi fails to transmit and transform properly, resulting in dribbling urination (Lin syndrome) and astringent pain in the urinary pathway. These symptoms manifest upon fatigue or exhaustion; hence, it is called Exertion Lin (Lao Lin). If accompanied by pulling pain in the lower abdomen, this is its characteristic sign.
To treat Exertion Lin with obstructed urinary flow, weakness in the waist and legs, and empty irritability, use Ren Shen Yin Decoction:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Shu Gan Di Huang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, sliced and roasted), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus), Yu Li Ren (Prunus Semen, soaked in water, skin and tip removed, ground), Zhi Zi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Qu Mai Sui (Dianthi Herba), Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis, chopped).
The above ten herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose consists of three qian bi (approx. 9-10g), boiled in one zhan (approx. 200ml) of water until reduced to seven-tenths. Strain the dregs and take warm at any time.
To treat Exertion Lin transformed from Kidney Deficiency, characterized by knotty, astringent, and difficult urination, use Huang Qi Tang Decoction:
Huang Qi (Astragali Radix, chopped, two liang), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Hua Shi (Talcum), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus), Bai Fu Ling (Poria, black skin removed), Ci Shi (Magnetitum, quenched in vinegar seven times), Han Lian Zi (Ecliptae Fructus).
