Discourse states that Hou Bi (Sore Throat with Obstruction) refers to swelling, blockage, and painful obstruction in the throat, preventing the intake of water or gruel. If treatment is delayed even slightly, it can be fatal. This condition generally arises from dysfunction of the Spleen and Lung, leading to the accumulation of heat toxins internally, combined with an external invasion of cold pathogenic factors. The resulting stagnation and heat in these two meridians knot in the throat, causing obstruction and lack of free flow. Symptoms include fever and aversion to cold. Treatment methods include acupuncture followed by herbal medicine, which addresses the urgent priority.
