Discussion: The condition referred to as "Great Wind" (Da Feng) causing the loss of eyebrows and beard is essentially Leprosy (Lai Bing). This is caused by the infection of malignant wind pathogens, leading to impure Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi). Damp-heat and toxic factors infiltrate the muscles, causing evil pathogens to spread diffusely. Itching leads to scratching and the formation of sores, skin ulceration, collapse of the nasal bridge, and the falling out of eyebrows and beard.
