Discussion states: The condition of urinary and fecal retention during pregnancy is caused by the excessiveness of the Zang-Fu organs, where heat pathogenic factors accumulate and are not promptly guided out. If heat binds in the Large Intestine (大肠), fecal retention occurs; if heat binds in the Small Intestine (小肠), urinary retention occurs. When heat exists in both intestines, both urinary and fecal retention occur. The symptoms manifest as mental irritability and fullness, along with distension and urgency in the lower abdomen. Only by evenly regulating the Zang-Fu organs and ensuring the free flow of Qi (气) can transmission and transformation functions proceed without stagnation.
