Commentary states: When infants and children suffer from persistent dysentery, defecating immediately after eating, it is termed "Dongxie Zhuxia" (Cavity Diarrhea with Urgent Flow). This is caused by Wind pathogen lodging in the intestines and stomach. Generally, during Spring, the body is injured by Wind-Cold, which hides in the muscles. By Late Summer, when Yin Qi becomes abundant, if there is imprudence in diet or living habits, Wind-Cold may re-enter the intestines and stomach. The disease presents as diarrhea; when Cold is severe, the condition worsens, hence the name Dongxie Zhuxia, commonly known as Shuigu Li (Water and Grain Dysentery).
