Discussion: The so-called "Swallow's Mouth Ulcer" (Yankou Chuang) in children refers to ulcers occurring at the corners of the mouth. The shape of the ulcer resembles a swallow's open beak, and it is also commonly known as "Fei Chuang" (Fatty Ulcer). This condition arises from exogenous heat in the Spleen and Stomach rushing upward to the lips, steaming the skin and causing ulcers. Some people apply mud from swallow nests to the affected area with good results; this is a treatment based on sympathetic magic or symbolic correspondence ("treating by intent").

Discussion: The so-called "Oral Ulcer" (Kou Chuang) in children is caused by excess blood and qi, with heat accumulating in the Heart and Spleen. The heat steams the Upper Jiao, causing ulcers in the mouth. This is because children possess a "Pure Yang" constitution and are prone to heat diseases. Factors such as overdressing, consuming too much hot-natured food, and congested blood vessels can all lead to this disease.
