Commentary states: Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) is a disease where corpse qi transmits to humans. It often occurs due to infection of corpse qi while weeping, causing the pathogenic factor to flow and accumulate in the body. This leads to alternating chills and fever, dripping sensations, a depressed and silent demeanor, uncertainty about the specific source of suffering, and general aversion throughout the body. Symptoms may include abdominal pain and distension, wheezing and急促 breathing with difficulty in respiration, rebellious qi rushing up to the chest and heart, attacking both hypochondriac regions, protruding masses, or spasms pulling on the waist and spine. The patient may feel heavy all over and lack mental clarity. With each change of solar term, the condition becomes more stagnant and severe. If untreated, it leads to death; upon death, the transmission can pass to others, hence the name Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission).
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) with unpredictable onset, abdominal distension, wheezing, rebellious qi rushing to the chest/heart, and attacking the hypochondria, use Fuling Tang (Poria Decoction):
Chi Fuling (Poria with Black Skin Removed) 3 fen, Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, Bark Removed) 3 fen, Shaoyao (Peony Root), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and dried), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens, dried), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 0.5 liang), Guijianyu (Strychni Spinae Ramulus), Taoren (Persicae Semen, skin and tip removed, double-kernel discarded, stir-fried) (each 3 fen).
The above nine herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi (approx. 1-2g), decocted in one zhan (cup) of water until reduced to 70%. Strain and take warm, at any time.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) characterized by mental confusion like drunkenness, delirious speech, palpitations with fright, dreams of sexual intercourse with ghosts, mental aberration, and frequent changes in disease severity, useawei Wan (Asafoetida Pill):
Awei (Asafoetida Resin, 0.5 liang, dissolved in vinegar, filtered to remove sand/dirt, mixed with flour into cakes, roasted and ground), Anxi Xiang (Styrax Benzoin, 1 liang, dissolved in wine and finely ground), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root, roasted and cut), Binglang Zhongbai (Areca Seed White Center, ground).
(Note: Text mentions ten ingredients but lists fewer explicitly in this segment; assuming standard preparation). Six of the herbs are ground into fine powder and mixed evenly with the other four separately ground ingredients. Form pills with refined honey the size of Sophora seeds. Soak three Wu Mei (Mume Fruit) and three cun of Cong Bai (Scallion White) in one zhan of Tongzi Xiao Nian (Child's Urine) overnight. Boil briefly. Take twenty pills early in the morning (Wu Geng period).
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) with irregular remission and exacerbation, and severe cardiac/abdominal pain, use Guixiang Tang (Cinnamon and Aucklandia Decoction):
Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, bark removed), Shaoyao (Peony Root), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, stems removed), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, skirt removed, vinegar-roasted), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed).
The above nine herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi, decocted in one and a half zhan of water until reduced to 80%. Strain and take warm, at any time.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) with alternating chills and fever, loss of appetite, and stabbing cardiac/abdominal pain, use Huzhang Wan (Tiger Palm Pill):
Huzhang (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, likely referring to processed Aconite or similar toxic herb contextually, though literally Tiger Palm), Dansha (Cinnabar, ground, each 0.5 liang), Bai Fuling (Poria, black skin removed), Longchi (Draconis Os, 1 liang each), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, dried), Peng Ezhu (Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma, baked and cut).
The above six herbs are pounded and sifted into powder. Use wine-boiled Asafoetida and wheat paste to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take twenty pills per dose, washed down with Ginger and Mume fruit decoction.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) evil qi, and generally treating hundred diseases, use Guan Gu Wan (Stork Bone Pill):
Guan Gu (Stork Bone, 1 cun, roasted), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, bark removed, 0.5 liang), Mengchong (Tabani Larva), Banmao (Mylabris, each 14 pieces, wings and feet removed, roasted), Badou (Crotonis Fructus, 30 pieces, skin removed...).
The above five herbs are pounded and ground into fine powder. Form pills with refined honey the size of small beans. Take two pills per dose, washed down with warm water, three times daily.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) ghost pathogens, leading to gradual stagnation and debility, use Ta Gan San (Otter Liver Powder):
Ta Gan (Lutrae Liver, one piece, shade-dried).
The above single herb is pounded and sifted into powder. Take 1 qianbi per dose, mixed with water, three times daily. If one piece does not cure, prepare another dose.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) ghost transmission with varied changes, use Dansha Wan (Cinnabar Pill):
Dansha (Cinnabar, ground), Xionghuang (Realgar, ground, each 1 liang), Guiji (Podophylli Peltati Rhizoma et Radix), Mangcao (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex? Note: Mangcao usually refers to Polygoni Avicularis or similar, but in ancient texts often distinct toxic herb, here likely a specific aromatic/toxic herb context), Wugong (Centipedae Corpus, two pieces, red-legged, raw), Badou (Crotonis Fructus, 40 grains, skin and core membrane removed, oil-free, ground).
The above six herbs: Three are pounded into powder, mixed evenly with the other three separately ground ingredients. Form pills with refined honey the size of Sophora seeds. Take two pills per dose, washed down with warm wine, at any time.
For treating weeping before corpses, corpse qi entering the abdomen, stagnating in the viscera, with occasional attacks, taking labor accumulation with divine efficacy, use Mituo Seng San (Lead Monoxide Powder):
Mituo Seng (Galena/Lead Monoxide, 0.5 jin, quenched in vinegar, washed, ground, drained to yield 6 liang), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, baked and ground, 2 liang), Helile (Terminalia Chebula Retz., un-pitted, raw, ground...).
The above three herbs are mixed and ground evenly. Take 2 qianbi per dose, mixed with thick noodle soup. Do not eat that night. Take once before sleep. Do not take at other times. Continue for three nights. On the second night, foul matter should be discharged. If not discharged, add 1 qianbi of raw Qianniu Zi (Pharbitidis Semen) powder on the third night, mix and take.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission), use Xingren Wan (Apricot Kernel Pill):
Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, skin and tip removed, double-kernel discarded, stir-fried and ground), Luangfa Hui (Ash of Tangled Hair, each 1 fen).
The above two herbs are ground evenly and formed into pills the size of small beans. Take five pills per dose, washed down with Pig Fat and wine.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission), use Shujiao Yi Method (Hot Compress with Sichuan Pepper):
Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Fructus, 1 jin).
Wrap the single herb in silk and apply to the affected area. Heat an ironing tool (hot compress device) with fire, press onto the pepper bag to heat it. Sweating yields miraculous effects.
For treating Wu Shi Gu Zhu (Five Corpses and蛊 Transmission), Zhong E Ke Wu (Sudden Evil Guest Intrusion), and stabbing cardiac/abdominal pain, use Dansha Wan (Cinnabar Pill):
Dansha (Cinnabar, ground), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Wutou (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked, skin and navel removed, 1 liang), Chi Shaoyao (Red Peony Root), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, bark removed, 2 liang)... [Text fragment implies additional ingredients totaling ten].
The above ten herbs are pounded and ground into powder. Form pills with refined honey the size of Sophora seeds. Take five pills per dose, washed down with rice drink, twice daily.
For treating Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission) where evil qi spreads, sudden fainting/oppression, intermittent chills/fever with dripping, or abdominal pain/distension, use Guan Gu Wan (Stork Bone Pill):
Guan Gu (Stork Bone, wine-roasted), Xionghuang (Realgar, ground, each 1 liang), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, bark removed), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried, each 3 fen), Shexiang (Moschus, ground, 0.5 liang), Dansha (Cinnabar)... [Text fragment implies seven ingredients total].
