Commentary states: Generally, when people's regulation and care are improper, both Yin and Yang become deficient, and Blood and Qi are insufficient. Subsequently, due to pathogenic factors such as Wind-Cold, Summer-Heat, Dampness, and malicious or intrusive evil Qi, these pathogens enter the body through the deficiency, flow into the meridians, and lie latent in the Zang-Fu organs. The toxicity strikes the Pericardium, causing intermittent pain. If stagnation persists for a long time, the pathogenic factors transfer and change places with one another; thus, it is called "Malignant Transmission Heartache" (Ezhu Xin Tong).
