Translation:
It is stated that in the disease of cold damage (Shanghan), the pathogenic heat-toxin qi is vigorous, manifesting on the muscles as macules and pustules. If the condition persists, the heat-toxin will ascend to fumigate the eyes, causing swelling, dryness, and pain, with patches appearing yellowish-red, resembling the color of tortoiseshell, or fragmented like millet grains. In such cases, applying eye drops will inevitably cause ulceration and damage; therefore, it is only appropriate to administer internal medicines that regulate the Spleen and Lung and resolve heat-toxins. Alternatively, external applications can be placed on the upper and lower eyelids to slightly mitigate the severity of the condition.
**Antelope Horn Decoction for treating nebulae suddenly arising after macular eruptions, as well as acute red eyes caused by wind-toxin:**
* Antelope Horn (one pair, shaved into fine powder)
* Semen Plantaginis (Cheqianzi)

The dregs are filtered out, and the liquid is poured into a porcelain bottle, sealed with oil-treated paper. It is then suspended in a well overnight. On the next day, it is taken out, gently warmed and shaken, and slowly sipped when needed. The patient should not use a pillow while resting after taking the medicine; improvement is expected upon waking. If the condition is urgent and cannot wait, take one dose on an empty stomach and another at noon.

* Hydrargyri Subchloridum (Nifen)
* Hydrargyrum (Shuiyin)

For these three ingredients, use a porcelain mortar containing urine from a male subject aged sixty days. Place a layer of paper inside a boiling vessel (diao), line it with the three medicines, cover the vessel mouth with wet paper leaving a hole the size of a finger in the center, and place the porcelain mortar on top. Seal the seams with wet paper and surround the vessel tightly with thick wet sand. Place one sheng of water on top of the mortar. Simmer over slow fire until dry and cool. Remove the mortar and sweep out the mercury. Have the patient lie down facing the affected eye, insert a piece of medicine the size of half a bean into the ear. Take this single ingredient. Spread a small amount of charcoal ash on the ground, about the size of an ang (vessel). Burn ten to dozen pieces of small charcoal wood, cluster them, and blow to intensify the fire. Immediately pour the powder onto the fire. Cover quickly with a new large porcelain vessel. Quickly move ash to seal the gaps around the vessel to prevent smoke leakage. Drip ten to dozen drops of cold water onto the bottom of the vessel. Once cooled, lift the vessel. The powder smoke will adhere to the inside of the vessel. Use a finger dipped in water to scrape it down. Wrap in two layers of mulberry paper, squeeze out mercurial beads the size of red beans. Pick up a bead with a fingernail and insert it into the ear of the unaffected eye. Lie on the side and shake to ensure the medicine reaches the bottom of the ear. Plug the ear with soft paper. Pain will cease immediately, and the eye will open. If ineffective, repeat the method the next day, taking a bean-sized amount, inserting it into the ear beside the affected eye, resulting in immediate efficacy.
