For goiter, moxibustion is applied to Zhongfeng (LR4), with the number of moxa cones corresponding to the patient's age; the acupoint is located on the dorsum of both feet, in the depression resembling a carpenter's square when the foot is flexed.
For various types of goiter, moxibustion is applied to Jianjing (GB21) in the bilateral depressions opposite each other: for males, 18 cones on the left and 17 on the right; for females, 18 cones on the right and 17 on the left. Alternatively, repeat moxibustion until recovery. After cessation, apply 100 moxa cones to Fengchi (GB20). On both sides of the neck, also apply 100 moxa cones to the hairline behind both ears. Additionally, for the patient, use the left hand for males and the right hand for females. Measure the middle finger with a string from the fingertip down to the distal transverse crease. Cut the string at the midpoint, fold it, and mark the position directly below the crease. Apply 7 moxa cones at this mark. For patients over five years, increase the number of cones as appropriate. Moxibustion must be performed at noon on the third day of the third lunar month; there will be no case that does not heal. Stone goiter (Shi Ying) is difficult to cure, whereas Qi goiter is easy to treat.
Qishe (ST12) is located in the neck, directly lateral to Renying (ST9), in the depression posterior to Tantu (CV22). Apply 3 moxa cones; it primarily treats tumors and goiter qi. The *Jia Yi Jing* states: "This is where the Qi of the Foot-Yangming meridian emerges." Apply 14 moxa cones (one cycle of seven).
For scrofula with large masses in the neck, moxibustion is applied to Tianyou (TE16). The two points are located above the tendon of the neck and the clavicle fossa, posterior to Tiānróng (SI17), anterior to Tiānzhù (BL10), inferior to Wángǔ (GB12), and superior to the hairline. Apply 5 moxa cones to each.
For all types of scrofula, moxibustion is applied to the depression in the inner groin at the affected site, one cone daily for seven days. Also apply 30 moxa cones to Wuli (ST24) and Renying (ST9). Also apply moxa cones to the area above the skin fold posterior to the axilla on both sides of the back, with the number of cones corresponding to the patient's age. Also apply 7 moxa cones to the vertical vessel behind the ear at the hairline.
For alternating chills and fever with swelling in the neck and axilla, Shenmai (BL62) is indicated.
For alternating chills and fever with neck swelling, Qiuxu (GB40) is indicated.
For alternating chills and fever with neck scrofula, Daying (ST5) is indicated.
For alternating chills and fever with chest fullness, neck pain, inability to move the four limbs, axillary swelling, rebellious qi with sounds in the chest, and buzzing in the throat, Tianchi (PC1) is indicated.
For alternating chills and fever with soreness and pain, inability to move the four limbs, axillary swelling, scrofula involving the mandible and pharynx (Hao Dao Hou Bi), trembling of the thigh, knee, and shin bones, and numbness with soreness and obstruction, Yangfu (GB38) is indicated.
For chest fullness, axillary swelling, scrofula involving the mandible and pharynx, tendency to bite one's own tongue and cheeks, swelling at Tianyou, alternating chills and fever, and pain on the lateral aspects of the chest, hypochondrium, waist, and knees, Linqi (GB34) is indicated.
For alternating chills and fever with swelling of the neck and jaw, Houxi (SI3) is indicated.
For various fistulas, moxibustion is applied to the depression below the Jiuwei bone (CV15) with 70 moxa cones.
For nine types of fistulas, moxibustion is applied to Jianjing (GB21) with 200 moxa cones.
For various fistulas, moxibustion is applied around the periphery of the lesion until healing occurs.
