Commentary states: Individuals who have suffered from Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting Syndrome) for a long time lack Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) and Wei Qi (Defensive Qi), resulting in emaciated and weak sinews and bones, and wasted, emaciated skin and flesh. Therefore, although the disease may appear to have subsided, the Qi and Blood have not yet recovered, leading to deficiency and fatigue. There are also cases where Xiao Ke is induced by the occasional ingestion of Shi Yao (Mineral Drugs/Stone Powders); after the illness, body fluids are exhausted, and the meridians become obstructed and stagnant. This also results in deficiency and fatigue, and one must guard against the transformation into Yong Ju (Carbuncles and Sores). The methods of rescue and treatment cannot be neglected.
