It is discussed that if a person's Chi pulse (pulse position at the wrist corresponding to the lower jiao/kidneys) is rapid and forceful, accompanied by taut tendons visible on the surface, the disease is named "Zhen Jin" (Rash Tendons). In this condition, the abdomen must be tense. If white or black color appears in the complexion, the disease becomes severe. Generally, heat causes tendons to relax, while cold causes tendons to contract. Currently, Liver Qi is internally deficient; deficiency generates cold, thus causing tendons to contract and become visible. The reason for the rapid Chi pulse is that the Chi position monitors the interior of the abdomen. When the abdomen is tense, the Chi pulse manifests as rapid; here, "rapid" also indicates deficiency, due to Qi deficiency within the abdomen. The symptoms involve taut tendons becoming visible, which constitutes Zhen Jin. Observing the complexion showing white or black indicates severe disease; since Qi is cold and tendons are contracted, and the complexion shows white or black, this is a syndrome of extreme cold.
