It is stated that the manifestations of vitiligo include rough, wrinkled skin and the appearance of white spots. This condition arises from heat accumulation in the Lung organ, where Wind pathogen takes advantage to invade. Wind and Heat combine, transmitting into the Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) levels, causing stagnation in the muscles. If this persists without dissipating over time, vitiligo forms.
For treating vitiligo accompanied by body numbness, use Wushe San (Ursine Snake Powder):
Wushe (Agkistrodon, soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted, 3 liang), Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, lightly fried), Humaizi (Sesamum indicum seed), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, radix tip removed), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, each 2 liang), Wu [bran-fried], Chantui (Cicadae Periostracum, soil removed), Baifuzi (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix Praeparata, processed, each 0.5 liang), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, processed, 1 fen).
The above thirteen ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a fine powder. Each dose consists of 2 qianbi, taken with warm wine, at any time.
For treating vitiligo caused by long-standing accumulation of wind-toxin in the Lung organ, use Kushen San (Sophora Root Powder):
Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, sliced), Wushe (Agkistrodon, soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted, each 3 liang), Lufengfang (Vespa Crabro Nest, lightly roasted), Songzhi (Pini Resina), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked by processing, skin and umbilicus removed), Zhiziren (Gardeniae Fructus, each 2 liang), Mulanpi (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, each 2 liang).
The above seven ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a fine powder. Each dose consists of 2 qianbi, taken with warm wine, at any time.
For treating vitiligo caused by steaming from Wind-Heat, use Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction):
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, forked parts removed), Digupi (Lycii Cortex), Wangbuliu Xing (Vaccariae Semen), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, lightly fried), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), Eshi (Arctii Fructus, fried, each 1 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root [text incomplete]).
The above nine ingredients are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose uses 3 qianbi, added with one zhan of water and 2 cun of Eshi root, decocted together until reduced to 7/10 volume. Strain and take warm, at any time.
For treating vitiligo, use Yufen Gao (White Powder Ointment):
Baifan (Alumen), Shi Liuhuang (Realgar, each 0.5 liang).
The above two ingredients are ground into powder, mixed with rice vinegar to form an ointment, and applied to the affected area.
Formula for treating vitiligo:
Xingren (Pruni Armeniaci Semen, remove double kernels, keep skin and tips, raw).
Take one portion of this single ingredient daily. Chew thoroughly twenty-one seeds every morning morning, rub on the white spots, and repeat before sleep at night.
Formula for treating vitiligo:
Jizi (Galli Ovum Album, two eggs soaked with shells in three sheng of rice vinegar for seven days, extract the albumen), Shi Liuhuang (Realgar, ground, 0.5 liang), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, skin and umbilicus removed, raw, one piece weighing half [liang]).
The latter three ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Mix with the previously prepared Galli Ovum Album to form a thin paste. Before application, first rub the affected area with a Ge cloth until it turns red, then apply the medication.
For treating vitiligo where skin becomes white and hair also changes color, use Shi Liuhuang Gao (Realgar Ointment):
Shi Liuhuang (Realgar), Mo (Ink, each 1.5 liang).
The above two ingredients are crushed and ground into a fine powder. First, rub the affected area with a cloth until it turns red. Mix the medicine with vinegar to form an ointment and apply. If sores develop, wait for healing before reapplying.
For treating vitiligo, use Kushen Gao (Sophora Root Ointment):
Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix), Yan (Salt, each 1 fen).
The above two ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into powder. Decoct one sheng of wine until reduced to four he, add the two ingredients, stir evenly, and simmer slowly until an ointment forms. Before each use, first rub the affected area with raw cloth until it turns red, then apply.
