Discourse states: When wind-grains (small, millet-like lesions) appear on the eyelids, it is due to accumulated heat in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), wind pathogen in the Liver Meridian, which transmits to the Heart and Lungs, rushing forth and erupting between the muscles of the eyelids. This causes a sensation of dryness and pain in both upper and lower eyelids, as if obscured by grains; red vessels invade the eyeball; tears and ocular discharge flow alternately; there is photophobia when viewing objects; without rubbing, there is a sensation of friction against the cornea (black pupil); over time, nebulae (corneal opacities) and halos may develop. It is appropriate to treat with leech-washing therapy combined with herbal medicine.
