Discussion states: "Mu Chi Lan" (Red and Ulcerated Eyes) refers to the condition where the eyelids are entirely red and ulcerated, with symptoms worsening upon exposure to wind. It is also known as "Feng Chi Yan" (Wind-Red Eye). This condition arises from invasion by wind and sun, where Wind-Heat pathogenic factors damage the eyelids and contend with body fluids, leading to redness and ulceration. Exposure to wind triggers itching and tearing, while heat exacerbates ulceration and increases discharge. Treatment should focus on pacifying Liver Qi and cleansing the eyelid skin, so that the clear orifices will naturally become bright and clear.
