Commentary states: When the functions of the six fu organs and five zang organs are disharmonious, qi and blood stagnate and accumulate, forming accumulations (Ji Ju). These accumulations become knotted and obstructed, preventing the free flow of qi, which then clashes with the qi of the zang organs. Consequently, this leads to distension and fullness in the heart and abdomen, restlessness, shortness of breath. If invaded by cold pathogenic factors, the cold clashes with the zang and fu organs. The conflict between yin and yang results in pain in the heart and abdomen, and in severe cases, diarrhea or dysentery.
