Commentary states: The Liver stores Blood and is associated with the sinews (tendons). When Liver Qi is harmonious, Qi and Blood are robust and circulate through the fascia, resulting in straight bones and flexible sinews, allowing Qi and Blood to flow smoothly. If Liver Qi is deficient and fails to nourish the sinews, Wind pathogen may invade, combusting with the sinews and vessels. This causes stagnation of Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi, obstruction of joints, leading to symptoms such as twitching and pain of the sinews and vessels. It may progress to dizziness, faintness, and deviation of the mouth and eyes; these are all corresponding manifestations.
