Commentary states: The Spleen disseminates the Qi of grain and water to moisten, thereby nourishing all Zang-Fu organs. When True Qi is robust, it can rot and cook (digest) food and drink, disseminate essence to various Zang-Fu organs, nourish Ying (Nutrient) Wei (Defensive), and fill the muscles and skin. If there is Qi deficiency in the Middle and Lower Jiao, internal cold arises, and Yang Qi is insufficient, then food and drink cannot be digested properly.
