Discussion states: Among severe cases of heat dysentery, those presenting with bloody stools are termed Chi Li (Red Dysentery). The root cause lies in intestinal deficiency allowing wind pathogens to invade, compounded by pathogenic heat. Blood, agitated by heat, flows recklessly; entering through the deficiency, it infiltrates the intestines and mixes with the dysenteric discharge, resulting in a purely red color, hence named Chi Li (Red Dysentery). If the intestinal deficiency fails to recover, it evolves into chronic Chi Li (Chronic Red Dysentery), potentially transforming into symptoms such as vomiting, hiccups, and Gan syndrome (malnutrition syndrome in children).
