Discourse states: Fengju (Wind Carbuncle) originates from wind-dampness qi invading the couli (skin texture and subcutaneous interstices), flowing into the blood vessels, causing stagnation and obstruction of qi and blood. This leads to limb spasms, curling, swelling, and protrusion, eventually manifesting as sores and carbuncles. Therefore, within the skin and couli, one must treat the swelling formed by the accumulation of wind-toxin. These pathogens gather to form foul pus and stasis, where toxin congestion fails to dissipate, ultimately erupting as Ju (carbuncle).
Wuxiang Liaoqiao Tang (Five-Aroma Forsythia Decoction):
Liaoqiao (Fructus Forsythiae), Shegan (Radix Belamcandae), Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, remove rhizome), Sangjisheng (Ramulus Taxilli), Mutong (Caulis Akebiae), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) [each 2 liang]; Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, 3 liang); Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli, 1 liang); Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae), Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum), Xunluxiang (Resina Olibani), Shexiang (Moschus) [each 2 liang].
The above twelve herbs are chopped like hemp or bean seeds. Each dose is 5 qianbi, boiled in 2 zhan of water until reduced to 1 zhan. Add Banli (Bamboo Juice) 0.5 he, boil again until bubbling, strain, and take warm. If not cured, take again.
This formula treats wind-toxin entering the body, lingering in the blood vessels without dispersing, clashing with Yingwei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) to form Fengju, characterized by bodily restlessness and heat, dizziness, swelling, and pain.
