The treatment of diseases caused by the movements of Qi (Wu Yun Liu Qi) is to participate in the principles of Yin and Yang of Heaven and Earth, clarify the mechanism of the rise and fall of the Five Elements, examine the cold and warmth of the climate, observe the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of people's diseases, deduce the methods of addition/subtraction and tonification/sedation, and apply medicines of cold, heat, warm, and cool properties. The ancients said: "To treat seasonal diseases without understanding Wu Yun Liu Qi is like crossing a sea without knowing where the ferry is." These are true words. Now, following the diagrams and formulas of the sages, we have extracted their essentials so that one can understand everything at a glance.
The combination of Jia and Ji years forms the Earth Movement (Central Earth). The combination of Yi and Geng years forms the Metal Movement (Western Metal). The combination of Ding and Ren years forms the Wood Movement (Eastern Wood). The combination of Bing and Xin years forms the Water Movement (Northern Water). The combination of Wu and Gui years forms the Fire Movement (Southern Fire).
In Zi and Wu years, Shaoyin Junhuo (Ministerial Fire of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian) governs the Sky (Sitting in the Heaven position, controlling the first half of the year). In Chou and Wei years, Taiyin Shitu (Dampness of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian) governs the Sky. In Yin and Shen years, Shaoyang Xianghuo (Ministerial Fire of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian) governs the Sky. In Mao and You years, Yangming Zaojin (Dryness of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian) governs the Sky. In Chen and Xu years, Taiyang Hanshui (Cold Water of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian) governs the Sky. In Si and Hai years, Jueyin Fengmu (Wind of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian) governs the Sky.
The Earth Movement of Jia and Ji years belongs to Nan Zheng (Southern Administration), because Earth resides in the center, the ruler faces South, and the other four Movements serve it as ministers facing North to receive orders, thus creating a distinction.
In Zi and Wu years, Shaoyin Junhuo governs the Sky, and the characteristic of the annual Qi is Heat Transformation.
"Sitting in the Heaven" refers to the climatic characteristics of the sky.
"Junhuo" corresponds to the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian. The Heart is the official of the sovereign, from which spirit and consciousness emerge. Junhuo is the root that governs Yang Qi; the remaining images generate Earth, which is the source of all things.

Commentary: Heaven is above, Earth is below, and humans reside in the middle. One Qi distributes, and Heaven, Earth, and Humanity stand together. Humans and Heaven and Earth communicate through respiration, and ascent/descent correspond. Thus, the Qi of Yin/Yang, cold/heat, and summer/winter are unified internally and externally, like fish and water. Therefore, what is felt by Wu Yun Liu Qi is exactly how human diseases respond. Those skilled in nurturing life can harmonize Zang-Fu organs, making Qi and Blood follow the track, so that heavenly times cannot invade; otherwise, following the Qi transformation leads to epidemics, and disasters are countless. As for treating according to symptoms, plagues cannot interfere, and humans can conquer nature; this depends on those who manage life to pay attention.
Lin's Note: The study of Wu Yun Liu Qi is difficult to exhaust even with white hair, and it need not be taken too literally. However, this chapter discusses Six Qi but not Five Movements, and has Main Qi but no Guest Qi, so how can the principles of victory, reversal, excess, and restraint be clarified? If one directly adheres to "which year and which Qi should cause what disease, and must use what medicine," the error would be shallow yet harmful. It might be better not to speak, as Miao Xiyong did. Here, Guest Qi, Main Movement, and Guest Movement are recorded below for detailed reference, sufficient only to prepare for inquiry, not enough to know the profundity of Wu Yun Liu Qi.
