Rhino-cornu (Horn of Rhinoceros), Xuanfuhua (Flower of Inula) (each 2 liang), Jupi (Peel of Citrus reticulata), Fuling (Poria cocos), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) (each 3 liang), Dazao (Date of Ziziphus jujuba) (7 pieces), Xiangchi (Prepared Soybean) (1 sheng), Zisujingye (Stem and Leaf of Perilla frutescens) (1 handful).
The above eight herbs are cut into small pieces, decocted in 8 sheng of water until 2.7 sheng remains, divided into three doses. Take them repeatedly with an interval equivalent to the time it takes to walk ten li, until qi descends and urination becomes smooth. (Cui named this formula Xiao Xi Jiao Tang [Minor Rhino-corn Decoction]; if qi does not descend after taking it, take the subsequent Da Xi Jiao Tang [Major Rhino-corn Decoction].)
Formula for treating Hongjiaojie [Hongjiao disease] where toxic pathogen rushes to the heart, transforming into edema, with general body swelling, chest oppression, suffocation, and near-death state.
Xi Jiao (Horn of Rhinoceros), Xuanfuhua (Flower of Inula), Fangji (Root of Stephania tetrandra), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi), Jupi (Peel of Citrus reticulata), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis), Qianhu (Radix Peucedani), Fuling (Poria cocos) (each 2 liang),
Xiangchi (Prepared Soybean) (1 sheng), Dazao (Date of Ziziphus jujuba) (10 pieces), Zisujingye (Stem and Leaf of Perilla frutescens) (1 handful).
The above fourteen herbs are cut into small pieces, decocted in 9 sheng of water until 2.7 sheng remains, divided into three doses. Take them repeatedly with an interval equivalent to the time it takes to walk ten li, until qi descends. If qi descends, urination becomes smooth, foot swelling subsides immediately, and appetite returns. If after taking the decoction qi still does not descend and breathing is rapid and irregular, continue to take the subsequent Xi Jiao Ma Huang Tang [Rhino-corn and Ephedra Decoction]. (Cui also used Baiqian [Radix Cynanchi stauntonii] instead of Baizhu, removed Fangji, Huangqin, and Sangbaipi, and named it Xuanfuhua Tang.)
Xi Jiao (Horn of Rhinoceros), Ma Huang (Herba Ephedrae), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Duhuo (Radix Angelicae pubescentis) (Cui used Fuling), Fangji (Root of Stephania tetrandra), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis macrocephalae), Lingyangjiao (Horn of Saiga tatarica) (Cui used Fuzi [Radix Aconiti lateral preparata]), Danggui (Radix Angelicae sinensis), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) (each 2 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (4 liang), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae amarum) (Cui used Xixin [Herba Asari]), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi) (each 2 liang).
The above fifteen herbs are cut into small pieces. First, decoct Ma Huang in 2 dou of water, remove the foam, and obtain 8 sheng of juice. Add the remaining herbs and decoct until 3 sheng remains. Divide into three doses. Take them repeatedly with an interval equivalent to the time it takes to walk ten li. After taking, cover with blankets to induce sweating. If not cured, take another dose five days later, inducing sweat as before.
Formula for treating Hongjiaojie [Hongjiao disease] entering the abdomen, causing severe distress, near-death state due to oppression, and abdominal distension (Formula of Supervisor Su).
Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae) (6 sheng), Mugua (Fructus Chaenomelis) (2 pieces, sliced).
The above two herbs are decocted in 1.3 dou of water until 3 sheng remains. Divide into three doses. Administer one dose every interval equivalent to the time it takes a person to walk ten li. Vomiting, sweating, diarrhea, or intense heat and oppression may occur, indicating recovery (this is a life-saving formula).
