Take thirty jin of Song Zhi (Pine Resin), place it in a bag made of palm fiber, tie the top securely. Place bamboo or wood at the bottom of a cauldron, put the bag on top, press down with five or six stones, fill the cauldron with water, and boil. After the ointment floats out and is fully extracted, continue boiling for twenty more cycles. Remove and place in cold water, replace the bag, wash the cauldron, and boil again. Repeat this process nine times. After the medicine is prepared, crush and sift into a powder, filter through a coarse sieve. Take one fang cun bi with wine, twice a day. Initially mix the medicine with cold wine; after the medicine enters the stomach, drink hot wine. Continue administration until therapeutic effects are perceived. If heat sensation occurs, reduce the dosage; otherwise, it may cause constipation and difficulty in urination. If experiencing stagnation, it is advisable to consume green onion soup. If still obstructed, take juice of Sheng Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) to induce mild diarrhea. Except for hemp seeds (Da Ma Zi), there are no other dietary restrictions. After taking Song Zhi for thirty days, efficacy will be felt; the sensation of water flowing down from both feet indicates effectiveness. To prevent constipation, mix one jin of Song Zhi with Fu Ling (Poria) and su (butter/ghee) the size of a jujube or chestnut; this prevents stagnation. After taking for one hundred days, Hong Jiao Jiao (foot Qi disorder/erythromelalgia) should be cured.
