Dahuang (Rhubarb Radix et Rhizoma) (15 zhu) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) Guixin (Cinnamon Twig) (each 18 zhu) Jiegeng (Platycodon Radix) Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper Fruit) (each 15 zhu) Wutou (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) (6 zhu) Babao (Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma) (12 zhu)
The above seven herbs are coarsely crushed, placed in a crimson silk bag, and on the last day of the twelfth lunar month at noon, suspended in a well until it touches the mud. On the morning of the first day of the first lunar month, remove the medicine, place it in wine, boil for several times, and drink it at an east-facing door. The consumption of Tusu liquor begins with the youngest; the amount is arbitrary. If one person drinks it, the family is free from epidemic; if the whole family drinks it, the neighborhood is free from epidemic. After drinking this medicinal wine for three days, return the dregs to the well. If consumed annually, it can ensure freedom from disease for generations. All wells inside and outside the home should have medicine added to ward off warm qi.
(Another version includes Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) 1 liang.)
Another method: On the first day of the first lunar month, take a mulberry root growing towards the east, about the thickness of a finger and seven cun long, coat it with cinnabar, hang it above the door, and also wear it.
Another formula: On the first day of the first lunar month, swallow fourteen seeds of Cannabis Sativa (Huo Ma Ren) and fourteen red adzuki beans (Chi Xiao Dou), and throw fourteen into the well.
Another formula: Usually on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, the whole family swallows red adzuki beans (Chi Xiao Dou), facing the sun and swallowing fourteen pieces.
Another formula: On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, men swallow seven large soybeans (Da Dou), and women swallow fourteen small adzuki beans (Xiao Dou).
Another formula: The Immortals teach that on the Gengzi day after Li Chun (Start of Spring), warm radish pickle juice (Wu Jing Zu Zhi), and the whole family, old and young, take it without limit on quantity.
