Yes, it is a manifestation of Yang Qi not extending outward, that is, Yang Qi deficiency, unable to reach the exterior.

Respected Doctor Sanqi, my mother has improved significantly, thank you so much. The current situation of my mother is as follows: After taking about ten doses of medicine, her blood pressure dropped to the normal range; the bluish color at the center of the lower joint of the waist (the painful area) faded, and the pain sensation spread out and lessened; the dark circles under the eyes also faded; heart rate normalized; she can taste the fragrance of food when eating. Currently, she still has the following discomforts: shortness of breath, always wanting to take a deep sigh, feeling that the Qi in the back of the heart pit cannot be pulled up; mental restlessness, palpitations, lack of strength all over the body, difficulty standing, soreness in the hips when sitting, a floating sensation when walking, only wanting to lie down, sometimes lower abdominal pain. Short sleep duration, usually waking up once or twice at night, sometimes unable to fall asleep for a long time; feels uncomfortable in the head when lying down, eye socket pain, hard eyeballs, vision like looking through fog, seeing colored halos around lights, tight pain in the temples, air flowing into the head when inhaling through the nose. But as long as she falls asleep, she wakes up normally, only feeling dry eyes, sometimes with nausea. Bowel movements twice in the morning, in the form of rotten dregs, teeth-marked edges on the tongue, white tongue body. Additionally, snoring during sleep. May I ask if these belong to what you mentioned earlier as "Liver Qi stagnation, Heart Qi deficiency," but I wonder if the root cause is still "Cold entering Shaoyin." Thank you very much.
By the way, someone gave my mother a pack of Korean ginseng powder, can she take it now? Thanks again. ^_^
Sanqisheng (Doctor Sanqi)

After taking about ten doses of medicine, her blood pressure dropped to the normal range, the bluish color at the center of the lower joint of the waist (the painful area) faded, and the pain sensation spread out and lessened. The dark circles under the eyes also faded; heart rate normalized; she can taste the fragrance of food when eating. Indeed, she has improved significantly, not only has the fundamental cold greatly decreased, but water Qi can also rise somewhat. Currently, she still has the following discomforts: shortness of breath, always wanting to take a deep sigh, feeling that the Qi in the back of the heart pit cannot be pulled up; this is still because Liver Qi is insufficient, lacking upward force on the left side. Mental restlessness, palpitations, lack of strength all over the body, this is Heart Yin deficiency. Difficulty standing, soreness in the hips when sitting, a floating sensation when walking, only wanting to lie down, sometimes lower abdominal pain. This is because Cold has not yet been completely eliminated. Short sleep duration, usually waking up once or twice at night, sometimes unable to fall asleep for a long time; feels uncomfortable in the head when lying down, this is due to Yang Qi being unable to return to its residence. Eye socket pain, hard eyeballs, vision like looking through fog, seeing colored halos around lights, tight pain in the temples, air flowing into the head when inhaling through the nose. This is because Water Essence cannot ascend, causing a sense of emptiness in the head. But as long as she falls asleep, she wakes up normally, this is because when Yang descends, Yin ascends. Only feeling dry eyes, this is because Liver Blood cannot moisten the upper part. Sometimes with nausea. This is a sign of Gallbladder Qi failing to descend. Bowel movements twice in the morning, in the form of rotten dregs, teeth-marked edges on the tongue, white tongue body. This is because Cold-Dampness has not yet been completely transformed. Indeed, these are symptoms related to "Liver Qi stagnation, Heart Qi deficiency," although the root cause is still "Cold entering Shaoyin," it has become much shallower. Korean ginseng powder can be taken mixed with the decoction.
Now making slight adjustments to the prescription: Tian Dong (Asparagus Root) 10g, Dan Shen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root) 10g, Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra Fruit) 10g, Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) 50g, Fu Ling (Poria) 30g, Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger) 30g, Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome) 10g, Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark) 15g, Gou Qi Zi (Goji Berry) 15g, Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) 60g (decocted first).
Usage: Six doses. Decoct nine bowls of water until three bowls remain (first decoct Fu Zi in three bowls of water, soak the remaining herbs in seven bowls of water, when Fu Zi decoction reduces to two bowls, mix in the other herbs, boil then simmer until three bowls remain), take one bowl at 8 AM and one bowl at 4 PM. Avoid greasy, cold, seafood, pork, beef, etc.
Chang'an Shaonian (Youth of Chang'an)
December 12, 2002, 09:50
Respected Doctor Sanqi, my mother's waist has improved significantly recently. However, during the course of taking these six doses of medicine, for some reason, her blood pressure rose again, with systolic pressure around 170 and diastolic pressure around 100 at night. Also, sleep is shallow, and fingers feel numb upon waking. What do you think is the reason? (She takes one spoonful of Korean ginseng daily.)
Sanqisheng (Doctor Sanqi)
November 18, 2002, 20:42
When the weather turns cold and Yin Qi becomes prosperous, Yang Qi cannot descend smoothly, stagnating upwards, thus causing accelerated heart rate and elevated blood pressure. If treated with cooling medicines, it will instead exacerbate the cold in the Lower Jiao, further depriving Yang Qi of its path of return. Assisting Yang Qi and dispersing Lower Jiao Cold, as Yang Qi descends, blood pressure and heart rate will naturally decrease accordingly. This is based on experience, not speculation. You will realize this after taking the medicine.
Sanqisheng (Doctor Sanqi)
December 12, 2002, 22:14
It seems Dan Shen and Mai Dong were not suitable. Change the prescription back to the first formula, and use the method from the first round. Continue taking it until New Year's Day, do not stop medication. Stop the Korean ginseng powder as well.
Sanqisheng (Doctor Sanqi)

December 13, 2002, 10:06
Respected Doctor Sanqi, it might be due to the Korean ginseng. Yesterday, my mother didn't take it for a day, and her nighttime blood pressure was relatively normal (around 140/80).
My mother is recovering quickly day by day, recently able to do some housework every day, although I insist she doesn't. Her complexion has also improved. She says every day that you are her savior; she has been so pitifully ill these past few years.

Sorry, Doctor Sanqi, troubling you again.
My mother's condition is improving in other aspects day by day, but yesterday chest tightness, shortness of breath, and palpitations appeared again, worse at night, unable to sleep. My mother took Danshen Dripping Pills, Xiaoyao Wan, and Tianmeng Capsules. We analyze if these could be the causes: the weather became very sunny yesterday afternoon, and cloudy this morning; recently my mother wanted to exercise, went for a walk with me the day before yesterday evening, seemed to have walked a bit too much.
My mother wants to know if she can take Huangqi Jing Oral Liquid along with your first formula.
Please take another look. Thank you.
Chang'an Shaonian (Youth of Chang'an)
December 18, 2002, 10:31
Respected Doctor Sanqi, my mother has experienced dizziness, morning nausea, sweating, fast heart rate (around 100), shortness of breath, inability to pull Qi up from the back of the heart pit, bodily restlessness, and general weakness for the past three days. When these symptoms appear, there is no flatulence. Yesterday afternoon, she had to see a Western doctor, who believed these were negative side effects of high blood pressure and prescribed Songling Xuemaikang Capsules, Betaloc, and Byvalson. But my mother contracted this illness in the 1980s due to family misfortune, when her blood pressure was not high. We want to hear your opinion.
Because taking your first formula has greatly improved her waist and stomach, my mother suggests doing this for now: take the first formula and these Western medicines until New Year's Day, then trouble you to adjust. What do you think?
Hehe, thanks for your trouble.
Sanqisheng (Doctor Sanqi)
December 18, 2002, 18:51
The Western doctor's judgment is one-sided. Your mother's disease originates in the Lower Jiao. After medication, Cold gradually dissipates, and Yang Qi gradually returns, hence the obvious improvement in the middle and lower parts. However, at this time approaching Winter Solstice, Qi mechanism moves downward. For those with Qi deficiency, Qi gathers downwards, leading to insufficiency of Upper Qi. All the aforementioned symptoms are caused by insufficiency of Lung and Heart Qi in the Upper Jiao. Without movement, nothing happens; with movement, deficiency manifestations appear suddenly. As long as Winter Solstice passes, she will slowly improve. As Yang Qi gradually generates, Upper Jiao Qi will also gradually become sufficient. Absolutely do not take anti-inflammatory drugs or cooling medicines, lest all previous efforts be wasted. To resolve this, add Tusizi (Cuscuta Seed) 60g and Huangqi (Astragalus Root) 60g (add Huangqi after decocting to about five bowls) to the previous formula. Adjust after Winter Solstice.

Told my mother this morning, she said your analysis was excellent, doctors encountered in these years couldn't explain it like you, very grateful to you.
Additionally, my mother took Compound Danshen Tablets, Danshen Dripping Pills (containing Bingpian/Borneol), and Songling Xuemaikang (containing Gegen/Pueraria Root and Zhenzhufen/Pearl Powder) these past two days. Are they cooling medicines? The pharmacy staff explained unclearly.

December 25, 2002, 09:59
Respected Doctor Sanqi, Merry Christmas. Hehe.
First, tell you good news, my mother's physical condition has progressed greatly. Thank you so much.
After taking the new formula, my mother clearly felt hunger. Food intake increased, tongue coating thinned, flatulence occurred, abdomen not bloated, bowel movements smooth and normal in shape. Now almost finished five doses, feels legs not so tired when walking, can stand for a while. Just feels stiffness in the lower joint when bending over. The original bluish color and dark circles have basically disappeared. Tinnitus cleared. Sleeps soundly but snores less, complexion better, gained some weight.
Still some issues: palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea persist. (Seems like hypoxia) Obvious at 11 AM and 5 PM. Taking some Xiaoyao Wan relieves it, but it contains Bohe/Mint, so later dared not take it. Back slightly chills when sleeping at night during weather changes. Abdomen feels sour for a while after waking up. Still feels sleepy.
Trouble you to take another look, thanks.

January 4, 2003, 10:01
Respected Doctor Sanqi, my mother sends her greetings. She has now finished eleven doses of Formula One plus Tusizi and Huangqi. Below is her complaint, please take a look:
Currently eating and sleeping very well, tongue body reddish and moist; can do moderate housework. Recently, the feeling of chilliness in the back has not appeared, the phenomenon of foggy vision and halos around lights occurred once (because talked too much that day, mood was bad too) dark circles very faint, bluish color in the triangle below the waist left only a faint small patch. Now just feeling heaviness, soreness, fatigue in the flesh below the lower back and buttocks when standing, stuffy distension sensation inside the inner thigh roots. Anxious, palpitations, mental distress, don't want to stand, soreness and fatigue in calf muscles when walking, etc., lighter than before, but still present. Eyes see things unrealistically, slight nausea upon waking in the morning.
Additionally, fast heart rate (around 100), chest tightness, shortness of breath, always wanting to take a deep sigh. Feels like Qi in the back of the heart pit is very thin, not enough Qi, just as you said my Heart Qi is insufficient, Liver Qi stagnant, Lung Qi insufficient. Worsens with weather changes or more movement, this illness was contracted in the 1980s (mentioned before) later didn't flare up much. Flared up once each in spring and summer this year, but passed quickly, heavier in winter. Reduced after taking your medicine, but fluctuates.
Besides "Cold entering Shaoyin" for my waist and leg disease you mentioned, could there also be Qi and Blood factors? Because past doctors said it was dual deficiency of Qi and Blood, my Qi and Blood haven't been good since youth: loved nosebleeds in summer when young, menstrual cycles often 40-50 days or two months apart in youth, volume very small. Also often yawn, several even up to ten times in a row, with tears.
Sanqisheng (Doctor Sanqi)
January 4, 2003, 15:23
Yes, indeed there is also Blood deficiency, now can appropriately tonify Blood: Huangqi (Astragalus Root) 60g, Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) 60g, Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) 60g, Fu Ling (Poria) 30g, Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome) 10g, Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) 30g, Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger) 50g, Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) 60g (decocted first).
Usage as before.
Chang'an Shaonian (Youth of Chang'an)
January 12, 2003, 10:13
Respected Doctor Sanqi: My mother has taken the medicine with Danggui for four doses, feeling the stuffy distension sensation below the waist and thigh roots has significantly improved. But still feels palpitations and shortness of breath, fluctuating. Had an episode the day before yesterday, felt more energetic the day before and did some housework. Had another episode last night, heavier. During episodes, feels weak all over, shortness of breath, poor appetite, belching, no flatulence, dizziness, nausea, dry retching, feels like Qi of Zang-Fu organs is stagnant. Qi not flowing smoothly, especially Qi in the back of the heart pit cannot be pulled up, unbearable Qi憋 (stagnation). Also insomnia, tightness between eyebrows, vision foggy, bowel movements recently always soft strip-like paste, sometimes hard nodules in paste.
When this illness flared up in the 1980s, some doctors called it Liver Qi Stagnation, others called it Stomach Qi descending. In 1998, neurologist diagnosed "Depression," after taking "Prozac," blood pressure dropped significantly, and there was flatulence. (This drug mainly targets conditions caused by serotonin deficiency) At that time, due to complex illness, other aspects didn't feel obvious. Only after taking your medicine, major illness gone, such as stomach, waist pain, now just these above.
Additionally, in September health check, liver function "GGT" slightly high.
Trouble you to diagnose again. Thanks.

My mother took some vitamins and Oryzanol, and Xiaoyao Wan yesterday, rested for a day, slept a few times, slept well at night, felt better this morning.
Additionally, some doctors call my mother Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, others say Neurosis. Due to family reasons, my mother has occasionally felt over-fatigued since the 1980s.

The aforementioned fluctuating condition is still caused by insufficiency of Upper Qi. If Clear Qi cannot fully ascend, Turbid Qi cannot fully descend, presenting a state of Upper Deficiency and Lower Excess. However, when Qi ascends, various symptoms decrease, recurring unpredictably. Wait for Spring Qi to generate day by day, vigorous growth, naturally can be without medicine and rejoice. Original medicine can continue to be taken, if finding it troublesome, change to Buzhong Yiqi Wan, take one pill at 9 AM and one pill before bed daily.
