In October 2005, I successfully delivered my daughter via painless labor. The delivery took place in an air-conditioned room. The hospital prescribed me several anti-inflammatory drugs (antibiotics). Although I knew Western medicine was not good, my husband insisted that I take them. When the baby was born, her skin color was purplish-red. Perhaps because she was invaded by cold qi immediately after birth, there was always some noise in the baby's throat, as if there were phlegm inside. I didn't pay much attention to it at first. Later, she suffered from loose yellow stools for a long time, seven or eight times a day, which made washing diapers extremely exhausting. The baby was reluctant to sleep, which was truly exhausting. During the confinement period (postpartum month), I caught a severe cold. My whole body's joints hurt unbearably, I felt weak, had eye pain, and muscle soreness and distension. Due to fear of the toxicity of Western medicine (a notion constantly instilled in me by my sister-in-law), I dared not use medication. Initially, I only bathed with water containing ginger and scallion white parts. However, perhaps because the invasion of cold qi was too deep, the cold remained severe. I refused to move even while lying in bed; it was really uncomfortable, and I didn't even want to feed the baby. My mother-in-law and husband urged me to go to the hospital. Some classmates and friends who are Western doctors also advised me to see a Western doctor. However, under my sister-in-law's persistent persuasion, I took two doses of Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction) and recovered. It was truly thanks to Mr. Sanqi, otherwise I don't know how long I would have suffered.

My daughter also had a fever when she was a little over one month old, reaching 38.6°C. Later, I gave her one dose of Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction), and the fever subsided. Moreover, the wheezing sound caused by phlegm in her throat disappeared. Perhaps this was affected by the anesthesia used during childbirth (anesthetic administered via catheter insertion into the lower back). To this day, her bowel movements are still not quite normal, indicating Spleen and Stomach deficiency (weakness of the digestive system). Mr. Sanqi prescribed Fuzi Lizhong Wan (Aconite Pill to Regulate the Middle) for her, but we couldn't find it locally, only concentrated pills. Later, the doctor changed the prescription to another decoction. Although I haven't given it to the baby yet, I believe that once the baby takes the formula prescribed by the doctor, her health will definitely improve. The doctor is truly boundless in merit.

Last week, I had an external contraction (common cold) with sore throat and slight wheezing. I went to Shanghai Shuguang Hospital (Zhangjiang campus, the most famous Traditional Chinese Medicine hospital in Shanghai) and booked an appointment with Chen**, an expert in the respiratory department. This gentleman looked at my throat and listened to my lungs. When I asked him the cause, he said it was a cold and then recommended antibiotics. I refused, but he kept recommending them. Eventually, I refused again (suspecting kickbacks). Then, without making any TCM diagnosis, based on my request (to take Chinese medicine), he prescribed more than twenty cooling-type Chinese herbs (such as Chrysanthemum Flower, Honeysuckle Flower, Houttuynia Herb). Since I am a beginner, I drank his medicine. As a result, not only did I not improve, but my cough and wheezing became worse. Truly indignant!
I wonder if anyone else feels the same.

Returning from the wrong path is the greatest joy.
I originally studied TCM. After entering clinical practice, I was forced to rely mainly on Western medicine. For 25 years, I have only used Chinese medicine for colitis and gynecological diseases. Last year, I treated a child patient with a cold. Each time the child had a cold, obvious cough and wheezing appeared. Intravenous infusion, or even the use of hormones + antiasthmatic drugs, showed little effect. Each time, the child was cured by obtaining so-called "secret recipes" from a TCM practitioner. It cost a lot of money! Therefore, I instructed the parents to use my Chinese medicine when the illness recurred. A few days ago, three children with colds, high fever, and cough were all treated with modified Xiao Qing Long Tang (Minor Blue Dragon Decoction). The next day, the fever subsided; after two days, the cough decreased. This was unexpected. Coincidentally, the same child came to consult for a cold. Having already prescribed medicine, the child recovered in three days. I deeply feel the magic of TCM! Deep reflection: I am a TCM practitioner, why do I use Western methods? First, I lack confidence. Second, societal pressure. (Patients often demand injections and infusions for quick fever reduction.)

Western medicine diagnoses diseases; encountering heat, it panics/handles it. Removing heat and reducing fever is its specialty. Its thinking is singular, lacking understanding of Yin and Yang. Heat contains cold; after heat subsides, cold stagnates, spreading internally, generating various complications, harming people, who remain unaware. Cold qi stagnates in the body, varying in duration, leading to disease. Depending on the individual's constitution and resistance strength, the condition fluctuates. Once resistance drops, troubles arise abnormally. Difficult cases require careful treatment. Both people and wealth suffer, compensation is difficult.

My child developed a cold and fever. At the hospital, received dual-effect treatment and Amoxicillin. Two days later, fell into a coma, convulsed, and foamed at the mouth. Indeed, nowadays Western doctors in our country's hospitals (including some so-called TCM doctors) treat colds simply with cold medicine + anti-inflammatory drugs. If that doesn't work, they administer IV drips. If the drip yields no results, they add various large-dose antibiotics to the liquid and continue dripping. If that fails, they resort to hormones. This is truly detestable!!
When I first used hormones, I marveled at their miraculous effects; pain disappeared immediately upon use. But once stopped, the original illness returned immediately.
The most tragic thing is that most ordinary people do not understand the truth; they still trust hospitals.
