*Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions Kept in the Sleeve) treats sudden onset of the Five Corpse diseases. The "Five Corpse" refers to five pathological conditions: Fei Shi (Flying Corpse), Dun Shi (Escaping Corpse), Feng Shi (Wind Corpse), Chen Shi (Sinking Corpse), and Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission). Their manifestations include abdominal pain, distension, and urgency; difficulty breathing; and shortness of breath.
**Prescription 1:** Crush Tribulus seeds (Tribuli Fructus), mix with honey to form pills the size of broad beans. Take two pills per dose, three times daily.
**Another Prescription:** Crush Phytolacca root (Phytolaccae Radix) and heat it. Place it in a cloth bag and apply as a hot compress to the affected area, alternating applications. Replace with a fresh hot bag when it cools down.
**Another Prescription:** Take two sheng of Oryza sativa var. japonica (Jingmi, glutinous rice), add six sheng of water, boil twice, and drink.
**Another Prescription:** Dig a small pit in the ground, fill it with water, stir vigorously until clear, and drink the juice. (All above prescriptions are from Volume I.)
*Shanfan Fang* (Abridged Prescriptions) treats Five Corpse, Gu Zhu (Poisonous Infection), Zhong E (Sudden Evil Invasion), and Ke Wu (Guest Malevolence). Symptoms include stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen. **Dansha Wan (Cinnabar Pill)** formula is as follows:
- Zhusha (Cinnabaris, processed): 4 fen
- Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, dried): 4 fen
- Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma): 4 fen
- Yuanhua (Genkwa Flos, processed): 4 fen

- Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba): 8 fen
- Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex): 8 fen
- Yegenpi (Kadsurae Caulis or similar vine bark, roasted): 3 fen
- Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus): 1 he
Crush and sieve the above nine herbs. Mix with honey to form pills the size of soybeans. Take three pills per dose, three times daily, washed down with clear broth.
**Dietary Restrictions:** Avoid raw blood products, pork, and raw green onions. (An alternative version excludes Badou and Zhizi; from Volume X.)
*Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions) treats sudden onset of Five Corpse, Dun Shi, Feng Shi, Fei Shi, Shi Zhu, and Chen Shi. Symptoms include abdominal pain, distension, and urgency; qi rushing to the heart and attacking the hypochondrium; or protruding masses.
**Alternative Method:** Break one chicken egg, take the albumen (egg white), and swallow it raw. For patients who are weak or unable to swallow easily, have them shake their head to facilitate swallowing. (Wen Zhong's version is identical to *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*.)
**Another Prescription (Ge Shi's Method):**
- Xionghuang (Realgar): 1 liang
- Dasuan (Allium sativum): 1 liang
Crush and mix the above two ingredients. Form into pills the size of a bullet. Dissolve in two he of warm wine and take. If symptoms do not subside after a short while, take another dose. Those suffering from "Shi Zhen" (Corpse Rash) should keep this medicine on hand for effective use. (Wen Zhong's version is identical to *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*.)
**Another Prescription:**
- Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, dried): 1 liang
- Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, prepared): 1 liang
- Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex): 2 fen
- Badou (Crotonis Fructus): 30 seeds, peeled, core removed, used raw
Crush and sieve the above four herbs. Mix with honey. Place again in a mortar and pound ten thousand times. Take two pills the size of small soybeans. This medicine treats all ailments.
**Dietary Restrictions:** Avoid wild boar meat, Asparagus cochinchinensis (Lusun), and raw green onions. (Identical to *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*; from Volume I.)

Take thatch grass from the four corners of a house. Place it in a copper vessel. Cover the abdomen with a piece of cloth three chi long. Place the copper vessel containing the thatch on top of the cloth over the abdomen. Burn the thatch to generate heat. Move the vessel along the path of pain. When itching occurs, the illness will resolve. If using a tiled roof, shave off wood from the four corner pillars and burn them; the effect is miraculous. (Identical to *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*; from Volume I.)
*Bajiu Chidan Wan* (Eight-Toxin Red Pill) from *Gujin Luyan Fang* (Recorded Experiences Through Generations) treats Five Corpse, Zheng Ji (Masses and Accumulations), nausea with pain, Gu Zhu, Gui Qi (Ghost Qi), and other conditions; it is universally effective.
