Cui Shi stated: There are five types of hemorrhoids. If flesh grows near the anus like a mouse's teat protruding outside the orifice, with frequent discharge of pus and blood, it is called *Mu Zhi* (Male Hemorrhoid). If there is swelling and pain near the anus... [text interrupted]
*Guangji Fang* (Extensive Effective Prescriptions) formula for treating the five types of hemorrhoids.
*Sheng Huai Jian* (Raw Locust Bean Decoction) (5 fen), *Zao Jiao* (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) (2 liang, roasted, skin and seeds removed), *She Xiang* (Musk), *Man Li Yu* (Moray Eel) (roasted), *Xiong Huang* (Realgar) (ground), *Lang Dan* (Datura Metel Seed) (roasted), *Ding Xiang* (Clove), *Mu Xiang* (Aucklandiae Radix) (each 2 fen).
The above eight herbs are pounded and sifted. Mix with *Huai Jian* to form pills, divided into five pills. Take a clean bottle of about one sheng capacity, bury it in the ground. Place a folded paper over the bottle mouth, drill a hole in the paper, place fire inside the bottle, cover with ash, then insert one pill to burn. Sit with the affected area over the hole on the paper. Sweating will ensue. When one pill is consumed, stop the medication. For internal hemorrhoids (*Nei Zhi*), inserting one pill internally brings immediate effect, but fumigation is still superior. Avoid fish and hot noodles.
Another formula for the five types of hemorrhoids: Pi San Powder.
Pi (roasted), *Bie Jia* (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis) (roasted), *Dang Gui* (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 6 fen), *Huang Qin* (Scutellariae Radix), *Huai Zi* (Semina Gleditsiae Sinensis), *Da Huang* (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (each 8 fen), *She Pi* (Snake Skin) (roasted, 5 cun), *Lu Feng Fang* (Vespa Nidus) (roasted, 5 fen), *Ben Cao* (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), *Gui Xin* (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each 5 fen), *Zhu Hou Xuan Ti Jia* (Porcine Posterior Hoof Claws) (14 pieces, roasted).
The above eleven herbs are pounded into powder. Take one fang cun bi (square-inch spoonful) with rice water on an empty stomach, twice daily. Gradually increase to one and a half fang cun bi. Stop if diarrhea occurs. Dietary restrictions are the same as the previous formula.
Another formula for continuous bleeding from hemorrhoids.
*Huai Zi*, *Wu Se Long Gu* (Five-colored Dragon Bone), Ye (leaves, roasted until purple), *Gan Jiang* (Zingiberis Rhizoma), *Xiong Qiong* (Ligusticum Wallichii), *Dang Gui*, *Qian Gen* (Rubiae Cordifoliae Radix), *Wu Zhu Yu* (Evodiae Fructus) (each 6 fen), *Bai Lian* (Trollii Radix), *Fu Zi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (5 fen, processed), *Huang Qi* (Astragali Radix) (8 fen), *Da Huang* (10 fen), *Zhu Xuan Ti Jia* (14 pieces, roasted), *Fa Hui* (Ash of Human Hair) (4 fen).
The above fourteen herbs are pounded and sifted. Form pills with honey, size of wu zi (wu-tzu seeds). Take twenty pills with water on an empty stomach, twice daily. Gradually increase to forty pills. If diarrhea occurs, reduce dosage according to judgment. Dietary restrictions are the same as the previous formula. (From Volume IV)
*Duan Ji Fang* (Short Drama Prescriptions) powder for the five types of hemorrhoids, mainly for alcohol-induced fatigue and trauma, treating bleeding from lateral orifices in the lower body.

The above seven herbs are chopped. Boil in one sheng of pig fat for three boils. Remove dregs. Apply to the fleshy growths three times daily. Externally apply this ointment while internally taking *Zi Shen Wan* (Purple Ginseng Pills). They should be used concurrently. (Same as *Gu Jin Lu Yan Fang*)
Another formula for the five types of hemorrhoids, where clear blood flows from the anus during defecation, and *Zi Shen Wan* fails to cure. This formula ensures recovery.
*Zi Shen* (Codonopsis Radix or similar, context dependent), *Qin Jiao* (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), *Luan Fa Hui* (Ash of Tangled Hair), *Zi Wan* (Asteris Radix), *Hou Po* (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) (roasted, each 1 liang), *Ben Cao* (2 liang), *Lei Wan* (Omphalia Lapponica), *Bai Zhi* (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (1 liang), *Chong* (Insect, unspecified, roasted) (0.5 liang), *Guan Zhong* (Cyrtomii Rhizoma) (3 liang, hairs removed), *Zhu Hou Xuan Ti Jia* (14 pieces, roasted), *Meng Chong* (Tabanus Larva) (0.5 liang, wings and feet removed, roasted), *Shi Nan* (Rhododendri Daurici Folium) (0.5 liang, roasted).

Can also be taken with water. For severe cases, take once at night. After four days, anal itching stops; after eight days, pus and blood cease, and mouse-teat hemorrhoids heal completely. After sixty days, recurrence is lifelong prevented. Long-term use is beneficial. A case of 18-year hemorrhoids with 3-cun prolapse was cured by this formula. It also treats rectal prolapse (*Tuo Gang*). Those with heat constitution may replace sheep marrow with red honey. (Same as *Ji Yan Fang* and *Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang*)

*Mu Zhi*: fleshy growth like a mouse teat protruding slightly, interfering with defecation; treated with *Bie Jia*.
*Nv Zhi*: swelling outside the orifice, rupturing after 5-6 days with pus and blood discharge; treated with Pi.
*Chang Zhi*: prolapses during defecation, retracts slowly; treated with Male Pig Left Suspended Hoof Claw.
*Mai Zhi*: clear blood discharged during defecation; treated with *Feng Fang* (Honeycomb).
For the above specified herbs, sieve them equally. Double the amount of the primary herb for the specific condition to make three parts. Take one fang cun bi with well-water in the morning. Rest for three days, then fumigate three more times for permanent cure. Avoid wind and cold. Use soups for nourishment. Avoid chicken, pork, fish, and raw/cold foods.
Another formula
