Cui’s Formula for Treating Postpartum Syncope.
Ingesting a small amount of lochia (postpartum discharge of blood and tissue) is beneficial.
Another Formula:
Ingesting three he [traditional Chinese unit of volume] of water used to wash the newborn infant is beneficial.
Yet Another Formula:
Upon feeling syncope, immediately take a hemp rope made of three strands, five or six chi [traditional Chinese unit of length] long, tie it around the parturient woman's right ankle, have someone grasp both ends and pull urgently. Once she regains consciousness, untie it slowly.

Wenzhong’s Formula for Treating Postpartum Syncope:
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), one liang, washed, pounded, and sifted; formed into pills the size of soybeans, inserted into the nose for immediate cure. (Same as Cui’s Formula)
Jiují Formula for Treating Postpartum Syncope:
Sheng Chixiaodou (Vigna angularis seed), pounded into powder; mix with flowing water from the east, take one fangcun bi [traditional Chinese unit of measurement for powder], ingest. If not cured, administer again. (Same as Cui’s Formula)
Seven Formulas for Postpartum Residual Blood Not Completely Expelled Causing Lower Back and Leg Pain, and Retained Lochia
Guangji Formula for Treating Lower Back Pain Onset Three Days After Childbirth, Due to Incomplete Expulsion of Residual Blood in the Abdomen, Accompanied by Limb Pain and Anorexia, using Shengdihuang Decoction.
Shengdihuang Juice (one sheng) Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle) (each two liang, honey-fried), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (four liang), Mi (Honey) (one he), Shengjiangzhi (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens Juice) (half he).
Cut the above six herbs, decoct with three sheng of water until one sheng remains, strain, add Didi Huang juice, honey, and ginger juice. Simmer over low heat for one or two boils. Take three he per dose, twice during the day and three times at night. The goal is mild laxation of residual accumulation. Food may be taken in between doses before resuming medication.
Another Formula for Treating Scanty Postpartum Lochia:
Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (each eight fen), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each six fen), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Puhuang (Typhae Pollen), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each four fen).
Pound the above seven herbs into powder. Take one fangcun bi with Sheng Dihuang wine, twice daily. Discontinue when blood flow resumes.
Jiují Formula for Treating Women with Postpartum Residual Blood Not Completely Expelled, Where Blood Flows into Lower Back and Legs Causing Pain, Chest Tightness, and Fullness of Qi.
Formula for Treating Hypochondriac Pain:
Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (one jin), Danzhuye (Lophatheri Herba) (one sheng, cut).
Decoct the above two herbs in two sheng of water until one sheng remains, strain, and divide into two doses.
Another Formula for Treating Postpartum Blood Stasis Not Expelled, Causing Pain and Fainting:
Take lotus leaves, burn them to ash, mix with warm water, and ingest. Boiling the leaves to extract juice is also beneficial.
Another Formula for Retained Lochia, Abdominal Distension, and Pain:
Take tangled hair the size of an egg, wash clean with plant ash lye, burn to ash, and ingest with wine.
Another Formula:
Take one iron steelyard weight weighing one hundred jin, heat it until red-hot, and immerse it in five sheng of wine. Use this "weight-infused wine" to decoct Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) three liang. Obtain two sheng, strain, and divide into two doses. (Same as Qianjin Fang)
Another Formula for All Old Blood Stasis, As Well As Traumatic Blood Stasis Within the Abdomen, Regardless of Acute or Chronic Nature. Also Effective for Amenorrhea in Women and Failure of Postpartum Evil Blood to Descend.
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) (each three liang), Taoren (Persicae Semen) (forty seeds, remove skin and tips).
Pound Mangxiao and Taoren together four or five hundred times. Soak in two and a half sheng of vinegar juice overnight. Take on an empty stomach, stirring well and ingesting all at once. If unable to ingest all at once, divide into two doses. Expectation: stool passes first, followed by bean-paste-like fluid or black blood, which indicates efficacy. Strong individuals take one dose daily; weak individuals take one dose every two days.
Discontinue when blood stasis is fully expelled. Do not exceed three doses. Avoid raw/cold foods, tea, and Abelmoschus manihot (Kui Cai).
