According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Source Book of All Diseases and Syndromes), blood dysentery occurs when heat-toxin invades the blood, causing blood to seep into the large intestine. Blood circulates through the meridians with Qi and passes through the Zang-Fu organs, where it should not stagnate. When toxic heat attacks, if the intestines are deficient, blood seeps into the intestines; intestinal deficiency leads to diarrhea, thus forming blood dysentery. A feverish body indicates a poor prognosis, while a cold body indicates survival. Palpation reveals a large and hollow pulse at the Guan position, indicating massive blood loss, with sudden expulsion of several sheng of blood. (From Volume 17)
