The *Jiyan Fang* (Collected Proven Prescriptions) formula for removing black spots and growths.
Ash of raw Veratrum nigrum (Wulitou, 5 sheng), ash of fresh ginger (Shengjiang, 5 sheng), calcined iron ore (Duanshi, 2.5 sheng).
Mix the above three ingredients evenly, steam until vapor permeates, collect one dou of liquid from beneath the steamer, pour it over the dregs to extract the juice, boil in an iron vessel until reduced by half, then simmer gently with low fire to form a paste.

The *Jiuji Fang* (Emergency Rescue Formulas) formula for removing black spots.
At night, wash the face with warm water, rub the black spot with cloth until it turns red and painful, prick the black spot, grind white sandalwood (Bai Zhantan) with water to obtain a thick juice, and apply it to the black spot. In the morning... (text cuts off here).

The *Shenshi Fang* (Master Shen's Formulas) ash decoction method for treating tumors, warts, scars, pigmented nevi, and malignant flesh from carbuncles and sores.
Calcined iron ore (Duanshi, 1.5 dou), wet mulch ash (Shi Sanghui, 4 dou), oak ash (Zaoli Hui, 4 dou).
Combine the above three ingredients totaling 9.5 dou, moisten with boiling water, place in a steamer, and steam from dawn to noon. Then take 7 dou of boiling water from the pot and percolate through the steamed dregs three times. Clarify the liquid and put it into a copper vessel, boil until nightfall, measure to retain five dou of juice, simmer slowly with low fire, reduce to one dou, and wash tangled hair... The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) formula for treating purple-red pigmented nevi, facial spots, and skin impurities.
Dry lacquer (Ganqi, stir-fried), realgar (Cihuang), alum (Fanshi, each 3 liang, stir-fried), croton seed (Badou, 50 seeds), charcoal skin (Tanpi, 1 jin), orpiment (Xionghuang, 5 liang).
Grind the above six ingredients into powder, mix with egg white, apply to old cotton gauze, and patch onto the lesion; change twice daily until removed. (*Shenshi Fang* adds 3 liang of Ma Cao, otherwise identical, sourced from Volume 24).

Another formula for treating warts and pigmented nevi.
Realgar (Xionghuang), sulfur (Huanghuang), pearl (Zhenzhu), alum (Fanshi, stir-fried), Shan Nai/Ru (Ru), croton seed (Badou, peeled and cored), veratrum (Lilu, each 1 liang).
Grind the above seven ingredients into powder, mix with lacquer to a mud-like consistency, apply and patch onto the lesion; after a short while, a sore forms and facial black spots are removed; applying directly causes them to vanish. (*Shenshi Fang* is identical, sourced from Volume 24).

The *Gujin Luyan* (Ancient and Modern Verified Records) five-ash decoction formula for treating black spots and removing warts.
Calcined iron ore (Duanshi), ash of Fatsia japonica (Shuo Di Hui), mulch ash (Sanghui), charcoal ash (Tanhai), mushroom ash (Zhun Hui, each 1 sheng).
Moisten the above five ingredients with water, steam until vapor fills the space, then use pot water to percolate, extracting about five sheng of clear juice. Boil in a copper vessel facing the stove door; do not allow chickens, dogs, children, or women (considered sources of pollution in this context) to see it. When the paste is ready, it should be solid and hard like fine sugar crystals; it is ready for use. Apply appropriately to seal the lesion. (Sourced from Volume 5).

The *Guangji Fang* (Guangji Hospital Formulas) miraculous ash decoction formula for treating warts, red-black pigmented nevi, facial spots, skin impurities, carbuncles, polyps, hardened nodules, etc.
Charcoal ash (Tan Hui, 3 sheng), mix with water until thoroughly moistened, soak in hot water; after half a day, percolate again with water. Add water gradually, not too quickly, otherwise the ash juice will be ineffective. Once two to three sheng of juice are obtained, put it into a small pan and boil for one or two boils. Separately, take one liang of weathered calcined iron ore (Duanshi) as preferred. If concerned about moisture, heat it extremely well before adding to the ash juice for joint boiling. Stir constantly with a wooden stick until it resembles pancake batter. Take a small amount carefully to form a paste, immediately pour into a porcelain vessel, and stir to cool; otherwise, it will dry out and become unusable soon. Usually, observe that one-tenth of this decoction can be stored for a long time. If there is tissue damage, the skin color will turn red-black shortly, with pain like burning. If moxibustion scars flare up, the disease will naturally fall off after more than twenty days without scarring. For travel in wind and cold, applying the Black Paste (Wu Gao) is also miraculous, and the scab falls off easily.
