The *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions Kept in the Sleeve) treats various dislocations, fractures, and accompanying sores or swelling. One must strictly avoid lying in drafts or on damp surfaces, as well as frequently fanning oneself. If wind-pathogen invades, it may trigger trismus (lockjaw), which can be fatal. If one has already been affected by this pathogen and feels stiffness in the neck and upper back, with a sensation of tight binding throughout the body, administer this prescription immediately.
Drink 2 to 3 sheng of bamboo sap (Zhuli). If trismus prevents opening the mouth, use an instrument to pry it open and instill the liquid, ensuring it is swallowed. Cold drinks and alcohol are prohibited during this time. Since large quantities of bamboo sap are difficult to prepare quickly, select approximately ten bamboo stalks, burn their central sections, and collect the dripping juice; ingestion can save lives. (Also found in *Duanju Beijifang*, *Wenzhong Fang*, and *Gujin Luyan*, Volume 3)
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) for unbearable pain from wrist fracture:
Take hemp roots and leaves (*Cannabis Sativae Radix et Folium*), regardless of quantity, crush them to extract the juice, and drink 1 sheng. If fresh green leaves are unavailable, boil dried leaves to extract the juice and take it. This prescription is also effective for blood stasis caused by falls, blows, or bruises, as well as for abdominal distension, fullness, and shortness of breath. (From Volume 26)
Emergency prescription for treating fractures and restoring bones to their original state, applicable to both humans and animals:
Grind cobalt-copper alloy powder (or specific metallic powder as per text "Guo KT"), sift through silk gauze, mix with a small amount of wine, and ingest. It may also be mixed with food. The total dosage should not exceed two *fangcun bi* (approx. 2-3 grams).
The *Qianjin Fang* for severed tendons:
Extract the brain matter from crab heads and the marrow from crab legs, roast them, and apply to the wound; the tendon will regenerate.
Another prescription:
Crush kudzu root (*Puerariae Lobatae Radix*) to extract juice for drinking. Roast kudzu white residue until yellow and apply to the wound to stop bleeding. (Both from Volume 26)
Emergency prescription for reconnecting severed tendons:
Cleanly wash the roots of *Inula japonica* (*Xuanfugen*), remove soil, crush, and apply appropriately sized amounts to the wound. Change once daily until healed. (Also in *Bixiao Fang*, Volume 9)
The *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* for wrist fracture, shattered limbs, and tendon injuries with dislocation or sprain:
Mash raw rehmannia root (*Sheng Dihuang*) thoroughly, heat it, and wrap it around the fractured area. Secure with bamboo splints, covering the entire injured site. Bind tightly to prevent movement. Change the dressing up to ten times a day; healing occurs within three days. (Same as *Qianjin Fang* abridged version, *Beijifang*, *Wenzhong Fang*, and *Gujin Luyan*)
Another prescription:
Crush fresh trichosanthes root (*Sheng Gualougen*), apply to the injury, and wrap with thick cloth. Heat dissipates and pain stops. (Same as *Beijifang*)
Another prescription:
Grind soybeans (*Da Dou*) into powder, mix with lard (*Zhigao*), and apply. Replace when dry. (All from Volume 3)
The *Shenshi Fang* for wrist fracture injuring bone and tendon, using Huai Zi Gao:
Huai Zi Ren (Sophora Seed), Qin Jiao (*Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix*), Bai Zhu (*Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma*), Xu Duan (*Dipsaci Radix*) (each 1 liang); Gui Xin (*Cinnamomi Ramulus* heartwood) (6 fen); Ba Dou (*Crotonis Fructus*) (10 seeds, peeled and cored, roasted); Da Fu Zi (*Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata*) (1 piece, processed).
Chop the seven ingredients. Soak Huai Zi and others in strong vinegar overnight. Then add 2 jin of refined lard and simmer over low heat, performing three cycles of heating and cooling. Strain to obtain the ointment.
The *Qianjin Fang* for shattered limbs and tendon injuries with dislocation/sprain:
Take sufficient raw rehmannia root (*Sheng Dihuang*), mash thoroughly, heat, and wrap around the injured bone. Change frequently. (Same as *Gujin Luyan*)
Another prescription:
Soak 3 sheng of fermented soybean paste (*Chi*) in 7 sheng of water, strain to remove dregs, and drink the juice to relieve irritability and oppression. (Same as *Gujin Luyan*)
Another prescription:
Dry Rehmannia Root (*Shu Dihuang*), Angelica Root (*Danggui*), Pubescent Angelica Root (*Duhuo*), and Sophora Root (*Kushen*) (each 2 liang).
Grind the four herbs into powder. Take 1 *fangcun bi* with wine, three times daily. (All from Volume 26)
