The etiology of this condition stems from the disharmony of Yin and Yang and the dysfunction of Zang-Fu Qi (Visceral Qi). Cold pathogen fills the chest and diaphragm, causing Qi obstruction and blockage, hence termed "Qi Ye" (Qi Dysphagia), manifesting as panting, palpitations, and pain in the chest and back. (From Volume 20)
Guangji Fang treats dysphagia with fullness of Qi in the chest and hypochondrium, where Qi obstructs during every meal, using Tongqi Tang (Ventilation Decoction).
