According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases): When heat pathogenic factors invade the Kidney, which dislikes dryness, excessive heat leads to Kidney dryness. Kidney dryness results in thirst and a desire to drink water extensively. (From Volume 10)
*Shen Shi Fang* (The Deep Master's Formulas) treats Wen Du (Warm Toxins) disease, as well as thirst remaining after vomiting or purging due to residual heat. This is the Shen Fang (Divine Formula) Shaoyao Tang (Peony Decoction).
Shaoyao Radix (5 fen), Huanglian Rhizoma (4 fen), Gancao Radix et Rhizoma Preparatum (2 fen, honey-fried), Huangqin Cortex (2 liang), Guixin Cortex Cinnamomi (2 liang), Gualanae Fructus (2 fen).
The above six herbs are sliced. Boil with 5 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Divide into three doses and consume within one day. (From Volume 14)
*Gu Jin Lu Yan* (Verified Formulas from Antiquity to Present) Zhimu Jieji Tang (Anemarrhena Muscle-Relieving Decoction): Treats warm-heat diseases causing headache, vexing pain in bones and muscles, dry mouth, and mental restlessness; or epidemic toxic pathogens in summer presenting with exterior cold and interior heat; or residual heat remaining after purgation; or spontaneous dysentery during a febrile disease accompanied by deficiency heat, vexation, and thirst.
Mahuang Herba (2 liang, nodes removed), Zhimu Rhizoma (3 liang), Gegen Radix (3 liang), Shigypsum Fibrosum (3 liang), Gancao Radix et Rhizoma Preparatum (2 liang, honey-fried).
The above five herbs are sliced. Boil with 7 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Divide into three doses. If purgation has already occurred or spontaneous diarrhea exists with lingering deficiency heat, remove Mahuang and increase Zhimu and Gegen. If the pathological heat persists and nocturnal emission occurs due to dreams, remove Mahuang and add Baiwei Radix and Renshen Radix (each 2 liang) to stop the condition. (Same as *Duan Ju Fang*, From Volume 2)
*Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* states: If a woman contracts cold toxins in winter, the disease may manifest in spring. Initially located in the exterior, even if sweating, emesis, or purgation have been performed, if the exterior syndrome remains unresolved and the toxin qi does not dissipate, macules and sores will erupt. Additionally, if the weather is warm in winter and people contract abnormal climatic qi without immediate illness, but in spring are constrained by accumulated cold, preventing the toxin from venting, then in summer when heat arrives and the spring cold dissipates, the winter warm toxin emerges onto the skin, causing macular eruptions and hidden rashes resembling brocade patterns. (From Volume 10)
*Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang* (Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies) treats Wen Du causing macular eruptions, difficult to save in major epidemics. Hei Gao (Black Ointment) Formula.
Shengdihuang Radix (half jin), Hao Chi Fermented Soybean (1 sheng).
The above two ingredients are exposed with 2 jin of lard, boiled for five or six boils until reduced by one-third. Strain out the dregs. Powder Xionghuang Realgar and Shexiang Moschus to the size of soybeans, mix into the ointment. Consume entirely; the toxin will exit through the skin and the patient will recover. Avoid Elaeagnus Fruit. (From Volume 2)
*Duan Ju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) Gegen Jupi Tang (Pueraria and Tangerine Peel Decoction): Treats Dong Wen (Winter Warmth) that did not manifest immediately in winter, was constrained by accumulated cold in spring, could not vent, and upon encountering heat in summer, with the spring cold dissolving, the winter warm toxin emerges from the muscles. Symptoms include macular eruptions and hidden rashes like brocade, high fever, cough, chest oppression, vomiting clear fluid. Taking this decoction brings calm. (Highly Effective)
Gegen Radix (2 liang), Jupi Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (2 liang), Xingren Semen Armeniacae Amarum (2 liang, tips and skins removed), Mahuang Herba (2 liang, nodes removed), Zhimu Rhizoma (2 liang), Huangqin Cortex (2 liang), Gancao Radix et Rhizoma Preparatum (2 liang, honey-fried).
The above seven herbs are sliced. Boil with 7 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Divide into three warm doses. Vomiting and oppression should settle first; then observe cautiously. (Same as *Gu Jin Lu Yan*, From Volume 6)
*Shan Fan Fang* (Abridged Redundancies) treats heat in the Lung and Heart organs, sudden appearance of spots. Xiangchi Tang (Fragrant Fermented Bean Decoction) Formula.

*Bei Ji Qian Jin Yao Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold for Emergencies) treats Wen Du causing macular eruptions. Red macules indicate five deaths for one survival; black macules indicate ten deaths for one survival; major epidemics are hard to save. Hei Nu Wan (Black Slave Pill) Formula.
Mahuang Herba (3 liang, nodes removed), Dahuang Radix et Rhizoma (2 liang), Mangnatrii Sulfas (1 liang), Huangqin Cortex (1 liang), Fudi Mo Ink from Pot Bottom (1 liang, ground), Zaowei Mo Ink from Stove Tail (1 liang, ground), Wuliangshang Chen Dust from Roof Beams (2 liang, ground).
The above seven herbs are pounded into powder, mixed with honey to form pills the size of a bullet. Grind one pill in 5 he of fresh drawn water and administer. If thirsty, give only water. Shortly thereafter, chills will occur; after chills cease, sweating will follow and the disease resolves. By the time the sun moves five zhang, the patient feels no discomfort. Administer another pill if needed. This treats "Huai Bing" (Ruined Disease) characterized by persistent high heat in the chest for six days and trismus, which physicians cannot treat. Most patients recover with this pill. (Same as *Hu Qia Fang* and *Duan Ju Fang*, also known as Shui Jie Wan. Also, Lulu Jupi Tang (Euphorbiae Humifusae and Tangerine Peel Decoction): Treats Dong Wen that did not manifest immediately in winter, was constrained by accumulated cold in spring, could not vent, and upon encountering heat in summer, with the spring cold dissolving, the winter warm toxin emerges from the muscles.
