The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) states that men suffer from four types of hernia: Chang Hernia (Intestinal Hernia), Luan Hernia (Testicular Hernia), Qi Hernia (Qi Hernia), and Shui Hernia (Water Hernia). Among these, Chang Hernia and Luan Hernia are difficult to cure, whereas Qi Hernia and Shui Hernia can be easily cured through acupuncture and moxibustion.
Another prescription for treating testicular enlargement with retraction into the abdomen is as follows:
Moxibustion is applied to Sanyinjiao (SP6, Three Yin Intersection), located eight cun above the tip of the medial malleolus. The number of moxa cones should correspond to the patient's age in years (Sui Nian Zhuang).
Another method for treating male scrotal swelling:
Moxibustion is applied at the junction of Jianjing (GB21, Shoulder Well) and the arm. The number of moxa cones corresponds to the patient's age. For male patients, seven moxa cones may be applied to the tip of the little finger. If the disease is on the left, moxa is applied on the left; if on the right, on the right. This yields excellent results.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to Guanyuan (CV4, Gate of Origin) for one hundred cones.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to Yuquan (EX-CA3, Jade Spring) for one hundred cones, repeated multiple times (Bao Zhi). The acupoint is located four cun below the umbilicus.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to Quanyin (EX-LE5, Source of Yin) for one hundred cones, repeated three times. It is located three cun lateral to Henggu (KI11, Horizontal Bone).
Another method for treating sudden swelling of the male scrotum:
Have the patient stand with feet together, pressing the toenails of both great toes against each other. Apply one cone of moxa to the square corner at the tip of the two toenails. Place half a cone on each corner of the toenails.
Apply seven cones to the upper part.
Another method for treating retraction of the testes into the abdomen:
Moxibustion is applied to Sanyinjiao (SP6). The number of cones corresponds to the patient's age. This is highly effective.
Another method for treating male testicular swelling:
Moxibustion is applied to an acupoint on the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel for fifty cones, repeated three times.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to an acupoint on the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Channel for fifty cones. Additionally, there is an acupoint one cun above the medial malleolus.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to the medial side of the big toe, one cun from the tip at the border of the white flesh. The number of cones corresponds to the patient's age. This is very effective. Apply bilaterally.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to twenty cones on both sides of Henggu (KI11), which clasp the root of the penis.
Another method:
Moxibustion is applied to ten cones at Zhongli (EX-LE8, Middle of the Toe), depending on the location of the swelling.
Method for treating pediatric hernia:
First, bring the child to a mortar and chant: "Sit here because Child [Name] suffers from scrotal swelling, so I will apply twenty-one moxa cones to you." After moxibustion, lead the child to face the gap under the mortar pestle, directly opposite the scrotal raphe. Apply seven cones to the wood where the glans penis aligns with the raphe. The swelling will subside. This has been verified. The moxa cone should be the size of a hairpin head.
Another method:
For any male suffering from hernia, have him straddle the axis of the mortar. Extend the penis and place it on the axis. Aligning with the front of the glans penis, apply moxibustion to the wooden axis. The number of cones corresponds to the patient's age. The condition will heal. (All extracted from Volume 25)
