[Pathogenesis] When the five Zang organs are harmonious, Ying (Nutritive) Qi and Wei (Defensive) Qi flow smoothly. When Ying and Wei Qi are smooth, body fluids circulate freely. Even if one drinks large amounts of water or liquids, it will not cause disease.
If health preservation is improper, the San Jiao (Triple Burner) becomes obstructed. Obstruction of the San Jiao prevents the stomach and intestines from functioning normally. Consequently, ingested water stagnates and fails to disperse. If cold pathogenic factors accumulate, "Pi" (masses/accumulations) form. Pi refers to masses located laterally between the two hypochondriac regions, which sometimes cause pain. Therapies such as decoctions, external heat applications, moxibustion, acupuncture, and stone therapy have separate specific prescriptions. Tonifying regimens and Daoyin (guiding and pulling) exercises are attached below. *Yangsheng* states: Do not drink water upon waking and then go back to sleep, as this causes "Shui Pi" (Water Mass). It also states: Do not swallow water hastily; doing so over time leads to Water Mass. Furthermore, lift both knees to clamp against the sides of the cheeks, place hands on the ground, and squat. Long-term practice cures Fuliang (Over-riding Beam) disease. Fuliang refers to indigestion forming masses, where the abdomen feels hard like a cup or plate. Su Yong (Old Abscess) refers to abscesses generated by long-standing water and Qi masses; prolonged cases may result in intestines transforming into sinews and bones becoming solid. (From Volume 20)

*Bixiao Fang* (Prescription of Certain Effect) Prescription for Treating Pi.
Take Li Ren (Pruni Semen) from fallen plums. Remove skins and kernels using slightly hot water. Mix equal parts kernel and dry flour. Pound into cakes. If too dry, add a little fresh water and knead as usual. Make two cakes, each the size of the patient's palm. Lightly roast until yellow, do not cook thoroughly. Eat one cake on an empty stomach. One should experience a comfortable bowel movement. If no movement occurs, eat another cake. Alternatively, drinking hot porridge juice may induce movement. The goal is a comfortable bowel movement. If diarrhea persists after noon, stop it with vinegar-rice. Bowel movements may cause weakness. If pathogens remain, take another dose after one or two days based on strength. Continue until pathogens are exhausted. Adjust dosage for children. Avoid cheese and beef/horse meat. This is effective for all cases. For severe illness, use half kernel and half flour; for mild illness, reduce accordingly. As symptoms improve, patients may try frequently based on tolerance until cured. It is miraculous.

Another Prescription
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 10 liang)
Pound and sieve the single ingredient. Mix with 3 sheng of vinegar and boil. Add two spoonfuls of white honey. Boil until suitable for making pills, size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 30 pills per dose. Stop when bowel movements become loose. Reduce dosage for children.

Another Prescription
Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis, approx. size of 3 soybeans) Shexiang (Moschus, approx. size of one door latch bead) Zhusha (Cinnabaris, same amount as Shexiang) Sheng Xijiao (Rhino Horn, raw, approx. size of small date, pounded separately into powder)
Grind the above four ingredients to extremely fine powder. Add them after the decoction is ready.
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang) Diaoteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis, 1 liang) Shengma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 1 liang) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang, processed with heat) Biejia (Trionycis Carapax, 0.5 liang, processed with heat) Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, 50 pieces)
Cut the above ten ingredients. Boil in 3 sheng of water. First boil Dahuang and the other six ingredients until reduced to slightly more than 0.5 sheng. Strain to remove dregs. Add Niuhuang and the other four ingredients. Mix well. Divide into three doses. Take each dose at intervals equivalent to walking ten li. Follow dietary restrictions as prescribed. If excretions resemble peach gum or meat paste, this indicates the expulsion of pathogens. Strictly avoid beef and horse meat. All measurements refer to large units (Da Liang/Da Sheng). This dosage is for persons aged fifteen and above. For children under ten, reduce dosage according to condition. Avoid amaranth, seaweed, Chinese cabbage, and blood-generating foods.
