Two Formulas for Insomnia After Severe Illness
The etiology is that after a severe illness, the Zang-Fu organs remain deficient, and Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi are not yet harmonized, thus generating cold-heat imbalance. Yin Qi is deficient, and Wei Qi circulates independently in the Yang aspect without entering the Yin aspect, leading to insomnia. If there is mental restlessness preventing sleep, it indicates Heart Heat; if there is only deficiency-related restlessness preventing lying down, it indicates Gallbladder Cold. (From Volume III)
