[English Translation]
The etiology of tinea describes its manifestations as skin eruptions resembling coin patterns, gradually expanding in circular or oblique shapes, accompanied by itching and pain, with distinct borders. Parasitic worms are generated within the lesions, and scratching yields exudate. This condition arises from wind-damp pathogenic factors invading the couli (interstitial spaces of the skin and muscles), compounded by cold-dampness clashing with blood and qi, causing stagnation and obstruction of blood and qi circulation. According to the "Treatise on Nine Worms," pinworms reside in the intestines and can transform into various forms; their activation may also induce tinea, confirming the presence of actual parasites within tinea lesions. The "Prescriptions for Health Preservation" states that one should not sleep with an exposed face in summer, as falling dew on the face causes skin thickening and predisposition to tinea. (From Volume 35)
Formulas for treating tinea from *Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions Kept Up the Sleeve).
Take fresh roots of *Angelica pubescens* (Duhuo), remove soil, and crush approximately one handful. Take two prepared tubers of *Aconitum carmichaelii* (Fuzi), prepare them by processing, and crush. Mix with fine wine and apply topically. The effect manifests after three days. Before application, wash the lesion thoroughly with soap pod decoction until dry, then apply the medicine for cure. (From Upper Volume)
Secret formula for treating tinea from *Shenshi Fang*.
Realgar (1 liang, ground), Sulfur (1 liang, ground), Root of *Rumex japonicus* (Yangti Gen, 1 liang), White sugar (1 liang), Lotus leaf (1 liang).
Pulverize the latter three ingredients into a paste, mix with all five ingredients, grind together, blend, and apply. If too hard, add a little honey to moisten it. It will heal in no more than three applications.
Another miraculous formula for tinea.
Grind Realgar, mix first with pure vinegar (Ku Jiu). Wipe the tinea area with a new cloth until slightly injured, then apply the medicine. Highly effective.
Another formula.
Finely cut Calamus root (Changpu), take 5 sheng. Boil in 5 dou of water until reduced to 2 dou. Use this liquid to ferment 2 dou of rice according to wine-making methods. Drink until extremely intoxicated when fully cooked. It cures immediately. If not healed, repeat preparation. There is no case that does not heal. Another version suggests long-term consumption of Calamus powder mixed with wine, formed into pills, which is better.
Another formula.
Burn dried toad (Gan Chan Chu) to ash, mix with lard (Zhu Zhi), and apply topically. Effective. (From Volume 20)
Secret formula for treating tinea from *Qianjin Yifang*.
Crush *Rumex japonicus* root (Yangti Gen), place in porcelain containers, mix with white honey. Scrape the edges of the tinea lesion until injured. Apply the honey-mixed medicine first. After the time it takes to steam one dan of rice, wipe off. Then mix with aged strong vinegar and apply to the tinea. It heals upon drying. If the scraped area is not injured, it will not heal. (Same as *Shenshi Fang*, From Volume 23)
Emergency formula for treating tinea.
First, prick the tinea with a needle blade, then apply crushed Galla Chinensis endophyte powder (Gua Di Mo) on top. Wash beforehand with starchy water (from washing rice).
Another formula.
Melt Pine resin (Song Zhi), mix with ground Realgar (Xun Huang), boil again. Wash the tinea with starchy water first, then apply hot compress. Heals in one or two treatments. (Both from Volume 5)

Grind these three into powder. Rub onto the tinea until exudate appears, then apply. For dry tinea, mix with vinegar (Ku Jiu) and apply. (Same as *Shenshi Fang* and *Gujin Luyuan*, From Volume 4)
Formula for treating tinea from *Gujin Luyuan*.
Apply hemp fibers (Ma Fu) to the tinea and wrap it; it heals. If hemp fibers do not work, mix salt and fermented soybeans (Chi) and apply the crushed mixture; it heals and stops spreading.
