Commentary states: Generally, the five zang organs of a person all contain wind pathogen, but the onset varies in severity and depth. Thus, kidney wind manifests as jiaogongjiao (foot disease), liver wind manifests as tearing and dim vision, lung wind manifests as rhinorrhea, sneezing, and cough, spleen wind manifests as flaccid and heavy muscles, and heart wind manifests as mental confusion and forgetfulness. If these winds are combined with heat, they will present symptoms corresponding to their respective zang organs. For instance, liver wind causes hypochondriac fullness, irritability, and a preference for quietness; if heat is added, the eyes become hazy and dim; if further compounded by the qi of mineral drugs (referring to the retained heat from ingesting cold mineral substances), the eyes turn red with increased pain, or pterygium (wing-shaped fleshy growth) may develop, or swelling and rapid ulceration may occur. Treatment should involve purging according to the severity. Otherwise, blindness may result. The classics state that when the liver is exuberant, the eyes turn red. If compounded by mineral qi, one must strictly avoid hot-natured foods in winter. If the heat cannot dissipate, it becomes latent qi (latent pathogenic factor), which will inevitably manifest in spring; preventive measures should be taken in advance. This is not the fault of mineral drugs, is it? The Yellow Emperor said, the form is affected by flavors, and the essence is affected by qi, all summoned by the cold or warmth of diet and respiration. The other zang organs follow this principle.

Place the salt and oil in a clean copper mortar with a surface diameter of one chi. Take a handful of green willow branches as thick as sinews, bundle tightly, and cut the ends even. Grind the mixture for three days until it resembles thick ink. Dig a small pit, place a tile at the bottom, and burn a quantity of hot Mugwort Herb (Aiye) equivalent to a goose egg on the tile. Place the mortar over the pit to smoke the medicine with the fumes, ensuring the fire does not extinguish. Once the fire burns out, collect the substance into a copper or iron container. Instill into the palpebral fissure every night, then lie down. Frequent instillation leads to cure. (Note: This formula is also applicable to taichi mentioned previously.)
