The etiology is Kidney deficiency, invaded by pathogenic factors. When pathogens lodge in the Yin aspect, it leads to dreams of sexual intercourse. The Kidneys store Essence (Jing). Now, due to Kidney deficiency and inability to control Essence, the dream stimulation causes emission. (From Volume IV)
Shenshi Jiuzi Wan (Deep Master Leek Seed Pill). A formula for treating emission during dreams caused by deficiency consumption (Xu Lao).
Allii Tuberosi Semen (5 he, stir-fried), Jujubae Fructus (5 pieces), Astragali Radix (Huangqi), Ginseng Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (roasted), Zingiberis Rhizoma干燥 (Ganjiang), Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Os Draconis (Longgu), Pinelliae Rhizoma preparatum (Banxia, washed), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao) [each 3 liang].
Crush the above ten ingredients and sieve them. Mix with white honey and jujube paste to form pills the size of wu zi (seed of Cerasus pseudocerasus). Take 10 pills per dose, three to four times daily. Avoid consuming Algae (Haizao), Brassica vegetables (Songcai), mutton, and malt sugar (Yitang). (Same as Qianjin Fang)
Also, Jici Wan (Cactus Spine Pill). A formula for treating various Qi deficiencies caused by deficiency consumption, frequent dreams, or spontaneous emission of Essence.
Opuntiae Spina (Jici), Asparagi Radix (Tianmendong, dehearted, each 2 liang), Zingiberis Rhizoma干燥 (Ganjiang), Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Semen (Tusizi), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Wutou, processed), Herba Siegesbeckiae (Xiaocao), Radix Saposhnikoviae (Fangkui), Dioscoreae Oppositae Rhizoma (Shuyu), Euphorbiae Humifusae Radix (Shilongrui), Lycii Fructus (Gouqizi), Morindae Officinalis Radix (Bajitian), Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma (Bixie), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma (Weirui), Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo, roasted), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin) [each 2 liang].
Crush the above eighteen ingredients and sieve them. Mix with half honey and half egg white to form pills the size of wu zi. Take 5 pills before meals, three times daily. If suffering from wind-withered bi-syndrome, with poor Qi flow, heat, fullness, shortness of breath, Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst syndrome), emaciation, add Weirui, Tianmendong, Tusizi. If suffering from yellow skin, sweating, red-yellow urine that is difficult to pass, add Guixin.
Also, Lujiao Tang (Deer Horn Decoction). A formula for treating emission during dreams caused by劳损 (labor damage/deficiency).
Cornu Cervi (Lujiao, 1 set, crushed), Allii Tuberosi Bulbus (Jiu bai, 0.5 jin), Zingiberis Rhizoma recens (Shengjiang, 1 jin), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Poria (Fuling) [each 2 liang], Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (Lurong, roasted, each 2 liang), Oryza Sativa (Baimi, 5 he).
Cut the above eight ingredients. First, boil the deer horn in 5 dou of water until reduced to 1.2 sheng. Remove the dregs. Add the other herbs and boil until 4 sheng remain. Divide into doses: take 1 sheng each time, three times a day and once at night. Use only fat and decomposed deer horns, beaten into pieces. Avoid vinegar products.
Also, Guixin Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction). A formula for treating spontaneous emission of Essence during dreams caused by excessive desire, where one dreams of interacting with female pathogens. (Also known as Xi Tang).
Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin), Concha Ostreae (Muli, roasted), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), Os Draconis (Longgu), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (roasted, each 2 liang), Jujubae Fructus (21 pieces, one prescription uses 10 pieces), Zingiberis Rhizoma recens (Shengjiang, 5 liang).
Chop the above seven ingredients. Decoct in 8 sheng of water until 3 sheng remain. Remove dregs. Warm and divide into three doses. Avoid Algae (Haizao), Brassica vegetables (Songcai), raw green onions. (Same as Fan Wang, from Volume III)
Qianjin Fang treats emission during dreams, loss of Essence, dribbling after urination, or emission of Essence in urine.
Ginseng Radix, Ophiopogonis Radix (Mendong, dehearted), Halloysit Rubra (Chishizhi), Polygalae Radix (Yuanzhi, dehearted), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (Lurong, roasted, each 6 fen), Spiritus Scleroterium (Fushen, alternatively Fuling), Os Draconis (Longchi, roasted), Magnetitum (Cishi, ground), Cistanches Herba (Rongrong) [each 8 fen], Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Dihuang, 12 fen), Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix (Danshen), Allii Tuberosi Semen (Jiu zi, fried), Biota Semen (Baiziren) [each 5 fen].
Crush and sieve the above fourteen ingredients. Mix with honey to form pills the size of wu zi. Take 20 pills with wine, twice daily, gradually increasing to 30 pills. Avoid vinegar products and Xanthium fruit (Wuyi).
Also, a formula for treating loss of Essence during dreams.
Allii Tuberosi Semen (Jiu zi, 1 sheng, fried).
Crush the single ingredient and sieve it. Take one fang cun bi (square-inch spoonful) with wine, twice daily. Extremely effective. (From Volume XIX)
Gujin Lu Yan Shihu San (Dendrobium Powder) treats male emission during dreams.
Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu, 7 fen), Mantis Oötheca (Sangpiaoxiao), Asteris Radix (Ziwan) [each 2 fen], Drynariae Rhizoma (Ganqi, fried), Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Dihuang), Gypsum Fibrosum (Zhongru, ground), Polygalae Cortex (Yuanzhi pi), Aconiti Radix (Fuzi, 2 fen, processed).
Crush and sieve the above nine ingredients. Take one fang cun bi with wine, gradually increasing to two fang cun bi, three times daily. Avoid pork, cold water, and Xanthium fruit (Wuyi). (From Volume X)
Duan Ju Longgu Tang (Dragon Bone Decoction) treats emission during dreams, floating pulses, palpitations, slight urgency, coldness in the genital area, eye socket pain, and hair loss. Usually, one dose every seven days yields good results.
Os Draconis (Longgu), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (roasted, each 2 fen), Concha Ostreae (Muli, 3 fen, roasted), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, each 4 fen), Jujubae Fructus (4 pieces, split), Zingiberis Rhizoma recens (Shengjiang, 5 fen).
Cut the above seven ingredients. Decoct in 4 sheng of water until 1.5 sheng remain. Divide into two doses. For those with deficiency, emaciation, floating heat, and sweating, remove Guixin and add Baiwei (3 fen) and processed Fuzi (3 fen). Hence it is called Erjia Longgu Tang (Double-Added Dragon Bone Decoction). Avoid Algae (Haizao), Brassica vegetables (Songcai), raw green onions, pork, and cold water.
Also, Xuncao Tang (Aromatic Herb Decoction) treats emission during dreams.
Herba Pogostemonis (Xuncao), Ginseng Radix, Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Dihuang), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao) [each 3 liang], Spiritus Scleroterium (Fushen), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (roasted, each 2 liang), Jujubae Fructus (12 pieces, split).
Cut the above nine ingredients. Decoct in 8 sheng of water until 3 sheng remain. Divide into two doses. Take each dose with an interval equivalent to walking for four to five li. Ji Yan Moxibustion Method for Treating Male Emission During Dreams.
Moxibustion on the point 1 cun above the medial malleolus of the foot, named Sanyinjiao (SP6). Apply 14 moxa cones to each foot, covering the large vessel near the medial malleolus and an area four fingers wide. (Same as Fan Wang and Wen Zhong, from Volume V)
