[Pathogenesis] Chi Dan (Red Erysipelas) initially presents with raised rashes; large lesions resemble linked coins, while small ones resemble hemp seeds or beans. The skin surface exhibits granular elevations resembling the texture of a rooster's comb. This redness is caused by severe Wind-Toxin, and it is also known as Zhuyu Dan (Cornel Erysipelas). (From Volume 31)
*Zhouhou Beiji Fang* (Emergency Prescriptions Kept Up My Sleeve) treats sudden appearance of red or black spots on the face, eyes, and body, resembling sores. Itching may occur, swelling arises immediately upon scratching. If not treated urgently, the condition worsens and can be fatal.
Formula: Apply Lingyang Jiao Jian (Antelope Horn Decoction/Paste) to the affected area hundreds of times. If unavailable, use beef tallow or pork lard. Any available detoxifying agents can also be applied to disperse the toxic qi; this method is miraculous.
Another formula for cases where redness has spread over the entire body:
Burn raw fish including skin and scales, grind into powder, mix with egg white, and apply evenly over the lesion. (Same as *Wenzhong Beiji*)
Newly Added Formula:
Burn antelope horn (Lingyang Jiao) into fine ash regardless of quantity. Mix with egg white and apply; highly effective. If egg white is unavailable, mix with water and apply, which is also excellent.
*Jiyan Fang* (Collected Effective Prescriptions) treats sudden onset of red-black erysipelas on the face, eyes, and body, presenting like scabies. Untreated, it worsens daily and becomes fatal if it covers the whole body.

Apply mud from under the pig trough to the lesion. (Same as *Qianjin*; additionally, heating a pig-feeding scoop and applying it as a hot compress cures the condition. Both from Volume 8).
[Pathogenesis] Bai Dan (White Erysipelas) initially presents with itching and pain, slight puffiness resembling wind-driven hives. It is neither painful nor red but appears white due to the presence of Wind-Cold pathogenic factors. (From Volume 31)

*Jiyan Fang* states that patients with Bai Dan experience itching and pain within the flesh, with slight puffiness resembling wind-driven hives. Treat it similarly to Chi Dan. For Chi Dan presenting like a rooster's comb, large lesions resemble linked coins, small ones resemble hemp/wheat/bean grains, with granular skin elevations like a rooster's comb texture.
