Disease Origin: The meridians of all Yang channels converge in the head. The tendons of the Three Yang channels (Taiyang, Yangming, Shaoyang) interlace and enter the mandible and cheeks, flanking the mouth. When the various Yang channels are invaded by Wind-Cold pathogens, it leads to tendon spasm and stiffness. Consequently, trismus (lockjaw) occurs, where the mouth cannot open. If the pulse is found to be slow (Chi), the prognosis is favorable. (From Volume I)
