Cui's Formula for Treating Gui Qi (Ghostly Qi) and Warding Off Evil: Asafoetida and Benzoin Formula.
Asafoetida is referred to as "Yangkui" in the Nirvana Sutra. Administration method: In the morning, take a piece the size of a jujube pit, grind it into powder. Then take one sheng (approx. 200ml) of cow's milk, boil it until it boils five or six times.
Let it cool slightly until the heat stabilizes. Take an amount the size of a duck egg, mix with the powder, and ingest. Rinse the cup with the remaining milk and drink it all up. In the evening,
take another piece of benzoin the size of a jujube pit.

After inquiries everywhere, someone returning from the Liang-Han region reported that over ten families of officials and commoners had found this formula effective.
Vice Minister Sun then ordered them to administer the medicine according to the formula. It took effect within seven or eight days. He then passed this method on to relatives and acquaintances, with many verifying its efficacy. At that time, I served as Director of the Bureau of Revenue,
and wishing to widely disseminate its effectiveness, I recorded it. (From Volume VII)
