Apply bamboo sap (Danzhuli) to wipe the affected area. Alternatively, apply carp bile (Liyudan). Mix juice from Plantago asiatica herb (Cheqiancao) with bamboo sap and apply as drops.

Wrap securely in paper, moisten with water, roast over fire until "preserving the nature" (Cunxing - carbonizing while retaining medicinal properties), then mix evenly and grind again. Blow the powder into the affected area for extreme efficacy.

Roast horse bone (Magu) until preserving the nature, grind into powder, and apply externally. Alternatively, applying chicken manure white (Jifenbai) is excellent.

Decoct Cortex Lycii (Digupi) in water to wash the area, then still use sesame oil to mix the powder and apply externally.

Wrap horse manure (Mafen) in cotton and insert it into the nostril. Alternatively, blow burnt hair ash (Shaofa Hui) into the nose. Alternatively, burn Mulch Fungus (Sanger) until charred, grind into powder, and insert into the nostril, or form into pills for insertion.

Mix Phellodendron bark powder (Huangbai) with water and apply to the sole of the foot (Yongquan acupoint area); effective.

For Mumps (Saixia - swelling and hardness of both cheeks with nodules, also known as Tanglangzi): Take Musk (Shexiang) (1 qian), Cinnabar (Zhusha) (5 fen), and Snail (Luosi) (7 pieces). Pound together into a paste. Apply to the anterior fontanelle (Xin).

Chicken manure white (5 qian) [Note: Original text implies mixing with previous ingredients or standalone, context suggests mixing with the paste above or similar application]. Grind thoroughly and apply to the swollen and hard areas. Do not rub off; it will subside. Alternatively, roast Loofah fruit (Sigua) until preserving the nature, grind into powder, mix with water, and apply. Alternatively, grind Olive (Ganlan) into thick juice, dip a duck feather in it, and apply. It will be effective after several applications. Alternatively, take a small amount of Mulch wood ash (Sangchaihui), add blood from a rooster's comb (Xiongji Guanxue) (2-3 drops), add salt brine (Yanlu), mix evenly, and apply frequently.

In newborn infants, symptoms may include swelling and hardness of both cheeks, sores inside the mouth, "horse teeth" (Epstein pearls), double tongue (Chongshe), wooden tongue (Mushe), snake tongue (Sheshe), protruding tongue (Tushe), or inability to open the mouth.

Apply [the aforementioned treatments, specifically referring to the foot application method mentioned next] to both soles of the feet. Recovery occurs within one week. This is a method of guiding heat downward (Yinre Xiaxing). Additionally, mix Evodia fruit (Wuzhuyu) (4 qian) with good vinegar and apply to both soles of the feet. If the condition involves the oral cavity, place the tail of a live crucian carp (Huojige) into the infant's mouth, swaying it frequently, replacing as needed. This can remove heat toxins from the mouth. Initially, the infant may still cry, but after application, the mouth feels cool, and the infant stops crying spontaneously. Although the fish tail has spines, they are very soft and do not harm the person. After treatment, the infant can nurse. Within three days, full recovery is achieved.
