After the woman perceives pregnancy, immediately place Realgar (1 liang) into a crimson gauze pouch and wear it on the lower abdomen.
Mix Honey (1 sheng) with mud from the bottom of a well, and apply it to the area below the heart. Additionally, bind tightly with a taut bowstring; the condition will resolve immediately.
Apply mud from the bottom of a well mixed with Hearth Earth (Zao Xin Tu) to the area below the navel. Alternatively, add Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis); if it dries, reapply. Another method is to mix Bai Yao Zi (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome) with clear water, spread it on paper in a circle the size of a bowl, and apply it to the area below the navel where the fetus resides. If it dries, moisten it with wet water.
During pregnancy, if affected by Wind-Cold pathogenic factors leading to loss of consciousness, resembling Stroke (Zhong Feng), use Moxa Herb (3 liang) stir-fried with Rice Vinegar until extremely hot. Wrap in silk fabric and moxibustion-iron the navel area; after a while, recovery occurs.
For various diseases of the eyes, nose, throat, lips, and mouth during pregnancy, treatment for pregnant women should primarily focus on Clearing Heat (Qing Re). Diseases of the eyes and nose mostly belong to Heat syndromes. Use Evodia Fruit (5 qian) ground into powder... [Text fragment: "Good" followed by "one", incomplete context]. This syndrome involves Wind; internal medication should not be taken. Apply Camphor (Zhang Nao) mixed with wine to rub the affected area; it will resolve immediately.
Place an iron arrowhead (an old needlework bag can also be used) under the sleeping mat. Do not let the pregnant woman know.
When the fetus makes sounds in the womb, it is called "Fetal Crying" (Zi Ming). This is caused by the pregnant woman bending or reaching high to fetch objects, causing the fetus to open its mouth and drop what it was holding, thus crying. The treatment method is to have the pregnant woman perform a bowing posture like a man, or scatter beans on the ground for her to pick up. Once the fetus resumes holding something, the crying stops.
Scallion White (20 stalks) finely chopped, stir-fried with salt, and applied as a warm compress to the lower abdomen. Another method: sleep with one leg suspended, then urination occurs. Or suspend the pregnant woman upside down for a moment, and urine will flow out naturally. (Alternatively, select formulas from the section on Urination and Defecation. The above covers pre-delivery conditions).
To treat non-separation of the crossing bones (pubic symphysis dysfunction) and various difficult labors, use a large turtle (whole body), preferably one that has just died. Use the head, feet, flesh, and blood, totaling approximately more than 10 liang. If using Tortoise Shell (Sheng Gui Ban) (1 jin) as a substitute, boil it in Sesame Oil (Xiao Mo Ma You) (2 jin) to remove dregs, then add calcined Yellow Dan (Huang Dan) (12 liang) and calcined Lead Powder (Qian Fen) (4 liang) to form the plaster. Take 5 qian each time, spread on skin paper, and apply to the navel. Externally, grind Che Qian Zi (Plantago Seed) (4 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root) (each 3 qian), Dong Kui Zi (Abutilon Seed) (2 qian), Zhi Ke (Aurantium Fruit), Zhi (likely Bai Zhi, Angelica Dahurica Root), Ban Xia (Pinellia Tuber), and Bai Lian (Paeonia Rockrose Root) (each 1 qian) into powder. Mix with Sesame Oil and Scallion Juice (each one large cup) to prepare the medicine. Apply this mixture over the plaster. Cover with paper and bind with cloth, allowing the parturient to sleep peacefully. Upon waking, delivery will occur. This is because sleep restores Yin Qi, providing strength to both mother and child.
