The pith of *Lagenaria siceraria* (Bitter Gourd) is taken in a piece the size of a large date. It is soaked in urine from an uncircumcised boy (2 he) for one shichen (two hours). Two pieces of sour jujube kernel, each the size of a broad bean, are inserted into both nostrils. The patient inhales deeply.
For Yin Jaundice (a type of jaundice characterized by cold and deficiency) and edema of the body and face, mix equal parts of *Cucumis melo var. conomon* fruit (Thladianthae Fructus), *Syzygium aromaticum* flower bud (Caryophylli Flos), and *Phaseolus angularis* seed (Vigna Semen) [7 seeds of each] into a fine powder. Blow a small amount of this powder into the nose. After a short while, yellow fluid will flow out.
Powderize *Cucumis melo var. conomon* fruit (Thladianthae Fructus). Snuff a dose the size of a soybean into the nose. For mild cases, yellow fluid flows out after half a day; for severe cases, after one day. Repeat the insufflation every other day.
For yellowing caused by Damp-Heat (which may result from extreme hunger or overeating, or from pre-existing damp-heat in the body combined with sweating and bathing), rub fresh ginger root all over the body frequently. The yellow discoloration will naturally recede. Adding *Artemisia capillaris* herb (Capillaris Herba) is even more effective.
Grasp fresh *Dioscorea nipponica* rhizome (also known as Wild Asparagus Root), wash it, crush it, and apply it to the navel. Then, take half a sheng of glutinous rice, mix it with half a he of watered wine, and knead until soft. Wrap it securely with cloth. After one or two days, a smell of wine will be detected in the mouth, indicating that water-dampness is being discharged through urination, and the edema will subside. (Note: Jaundice presenting with yellow eyes but no swelling, where damp-heat is not severe, is often caused by parasitic accumulation and food stagnation.) Additionally, mix white mustard seed powder (2 qian) with distilled spirits, spread it on the lower abdomen, and apply until blisters form. This serves as the limit of treatment.
For Black Jaundice, grind *Alumen* (Alum), *Talcum* (Talc), and *Hordei Fructus Germinatus* (Sprouted Barley Fruit) [in equal proportions] and apply externally.
This treats all types of consumptive cough, hemoptysis, and feverish conditions. Provided the pulse indicates the presence of Shen (Spirit/Vitality), there is no case that does not respond effectively. Mix Arrowhead Sand (1 liang) and Realgar (5 qian). Place them in a bowl.
Cover the bowl with cloth.
Maintain this regimen for one month. It is nearly foolproof. Do not take other medicines to avoid complications.
This universally treats blood loss due to overwork, Yin deficiency, spermatorrhea, leukorrhea, impotence, mental fatigue, phlegm-fire, and women's red and white vaginal discharge. Mix Musk, Dragon Bone, Tiger Bone, Snake Bone, Aconite Root, Aucklandia Root, Clove, Frankincense, Myrrh, Realgar, Cinnabar, Owl Droppings, Pepper, Fennel Seed, Green Salt, and Liang Tou Jian (each in equal proportions). Fill the navel cavity with Musk. Create a ring around the navel using buckwheat dough, fill it with the herbal mixture, and perform moxibustion. When sweat appears, the disease is cured. Avoid wind and cold, and abstain from greasy, raw/cold foods, alcohol, and sexual indulgence. If one fears moxibustion, add Mugwort to the herbal bag and lay it over the area. This forces the medicinal qi into the abdomen. Stop when warmth is felt. This method is also effective.
