I was never proficient in surgery. In the early year of Renchen, I studied internal medicine books under Mr. Deng Genghe, and learned that his cousin's nephew, Xingbo, had studied under Master Ma Peizhi of Menghe (Ma Peizhi). Master Ma excelled in surgery and authored a medical text that comprehensively recorded various surgical formulas, namely *Chuanxin Ji* (Collection of Passed-on Firewood). Xu Hengshi had studied under Mr. Xingbo and thus obtained this book. I previously borrowed it to make a copy and treasuredly stored it. Coincidentally, in the year Dingyou, my mother suffered from "Dashou" (a carbuncle on the back), which was severe, feeling as heavy as carrying thousands of coins on her back. Due to financial difficulties, no specialist physician was consulted. During the process of external application to drain toxins and close the wound, I referred to this book to select prescriptions and medications, turning a severe condition into a mild one, and fortunately achieved recovery. Therefore, I record the reason for obtaining this book as above.
