Take a section of living bamboo, retaining both nodes. Carve a small hole on one node, stuff it tightly with Junci Medella (Dengxin), seal the hole, wrap in wet straw paper, and roast over fire. Remove, allow to cool, cut open, discard bamboo charcoal, retrieve the charcoal from the Junci Medulla, grind into a fine powder, and insufflate into the throat three or four times for a cure. For better results, subsequently administer Shuangsha Tang. See the Decoctions chapter for this formula.
To treat otalgia with purulent discharge in the ear.
Grind the occipital bone from the brain of fresh sturgeon (Huangyu), commonly known as "sturgeon teeth." Add 1 qian of Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) per 1 liang of powder. First, wipe away pus and fluid with dry material, then insufflate the powder three or four times for immediate cure.
To treat various Yin abscesses (Yin Ju) and flowing nodules (Liu Zhu) with severe ulceration, as well as toxic roots of frostbite. For un-ulcerated lesions, they disappear completely overnight; for ulcerated lesions, three applications result in full recovery. Malaria can be cured immediately by applying to the back center.
Take 3 jin of fresh stems, leaves, and roots of Dali (Arctii Fructus plant), 4 liang of fresh stems of Baifengxian (Impatientis Balsaminae Herba), and 10 jin of Hemp Seed Oil (Dama You).
